Chogappo made of fragments of ramie which is recycled from old textiles. Pojagi is the general name for the wrapping cloth and "chogappo" is one kind of pojagi which is patchworked with asa (choma or hemp) fragments. A lovely Chinese hat stand featuring a pair of birds and painted in the Qianjiang style using soft pastel enamels. Qianjiang enamel paintings are getting harder to find and this one is in excellent original condition, no chips, no hairlines, no cracks. It measures 11 inches high x 4.75" diameter.

Matched pair of Satsuma vases with cobalt ground, each depicting two large panels with Japanese women and children in a landscape with a lakeside village and mountains in the background, flowering trees on outcroppings, gilding highlights over clothing of women and children, both signed with Shimazu crest and Kinkozan mark. Late Meiji to early Taisho (1910s) wooden netsuke of a bamboo shoot. Excellent realistic carving utilizing texture and natural growth lines of the material (ichii - Japanese yew wood) to represent the texture of the leaves. Wonderful sense of volume, very pleasant to hold. Cursively inscribed by himotoshi - may be a signature or a rendition of Japanese character TAKE (bamboo). Height 2.67 inches.

A deck of antique Fred Harvey "Souvenir Playing Cards - The Great Southwest" circa 1911-1912. Full deck (52 cards plus a Joker and a Map). Each card displays a different photograph, including destinations, places, and native people of the Southwest. The back of each card shows a scene of Indians on horseback. Golden-edged cards. Almost mint Condition.

A framed Indonesian sarong, a long cloth worn as a wrap skirt, finely hand-woven with bands of geometric figures and repeating patterns. Made of warp ikat, with natural dyes of blue, rust, and brown. From the eastern outlier of Lembata Island.

The purse is made of silk embroidery, which is called Seed Embroidery 打籽繡, originating in one of the four major regional styles of Chinese embroidery—Suzhou embroidery (Su Xiu). This Art Deco purse is ideal for photography sessions due to its collectible quality, but it is not suitable for everyday use given its delicate nature. Late Meiji - early Taisho (1900-1920) wooden Japanese okimono of an actor wearing a voluminous robe and holding a scroll on one hand. Skillfully carved out of chosen matsu (Korean pine wood) in ittobori (one cut) style characteristic of Hida school of netsuke carvers with clever use of wood grain as element of design - in this case almost forming deliberate patterns on the robe. Late 19th to early 20th century Chinese porcelain figure of a mythical beast crouching on a rock above cresting waves with its head lowered. Wonderful potting, excellent face, beautiful use of turquoise and aubergine colored glazes. Great patina, compressed dust on the surface, few spots of losses to the glaze, the body stamped with 2 characters on the bottom. Height 2.5 inches.
