Unusual Japanese Kiri wood stacking box, comprised of 9 shallow compartments for the storage of calligraphy implements. The edges of each compartment are reinforced with hand-forged iron plates. The lowermost compartment has a single pull out drawer with a kakute iron pull and lock.

19th century kagamibuta (“mirror lid”) netsuke with copper top engraved with Daruma screaming and waving his hands. Excellent design, wonderful use of katakiribori - carving technique recreating brush strokes used in sumi ink drawings - see finely chiseled lines of his robe. Nice wooden bowl, metal fitting around himotoshi. Disc diameter 1.19 inches, bowl diameter 1.79 inches.

19th century netsuke of four monkeys trying to contain three huge fogs that they caught and put in a tied bundle of lotus leaves. Very unusual (possibly unique) subject, beautifully carved, excellent faces of both types of creatures, eyes of the frogs are inlaid with light brown horn, wonderful hairwork, great patina. Signed cursively on the bottom - it appears to read ROSEI, but I am not entirely sure. Length 1.59 inches.

19th century Chinese scholar’s rock / brush rest in a form of a piece of malachite perfectly resembling a range of hills covered with green vegetation. Also resembles a snail or a traveling caterpillar, can be viewed from two sides. Shape and colors may suggest a characteristic Guilin landscape of limestone peaks. Excellent natural stone with pleasant patina, fixed in carved fitted rosewood stand. Wonderful object for contemplation on scholar’s desk. Height with stand 2 7/8 inches.

Rare Japanese netsuke of Okame laughing and hiding an Oni under a basket; natural material; a quality piece by the artist, Gyokusai; signed on the base

A small 19th century Chinese porcelain joss holder in the form of a seated hound, covered in a mottled dark umber glaze revealing the white beneath in places and patches of light blue on each side. An unusual piece and may be one-of-a-kind, we are dating circa 1900 or a little earlier. On an integral rectangular bracket base, it measures 3.75 inches high, 2.75 long.

Chinese antique sewing table, black lacquer with beautiful and ornate gold lacquer designs depicting scenes of palace life, interior has many little places for organizing sewing materials all lacquered in black and gold with bone details, a pull out lacquer and silk area underneath for storing embroidery supplies, claw feet, with key, 18th/19th century. Size: 28" high x 24 1/2" wide x 17" deep.

This is japanese excellent antique Tsutsugaki textile hemp furoshiki meiji era .Furoshuki, a technique of tsutsugaki that excels in hemp, is very rare. Very beautiful. Han-gappa which is a kind of jacket worn over kimono. Wefts are silk yarn and warps look cotton yarn. The collar is made of black wool which might be imported, and straps are made of wool cloth and vegetable indigo dye silk cords. In good condition except for a few moth holes in the wool collar and a rip in the shoulder. The second half of the 19th century. 129cm x 98cm
