An antique Japanese 2 panel Byobu screen of a mounted Kimono from a Noh play. Embroidered picture of flying Phoenix birds with Paulownia and scrolling vines they use to build a nest. The Kimono is that of a young female character of high aristocratic nobility wearing it as a surcoat in summer. The double Paulownia would represent a marriage as its theme. It is shown hanging on a Tazuna rope. The background is a silver leaf with a vermillion lacquer frame...

Interesting and decorative fragment of a figural tile, Mexico, Aztecs, 1300 to 1521 AD.

The tile showing two warriors or deities fighting, one holding a dagger and both with elaborate headdresses.

Size: 26 x 19 cm. Thick.

Condition: Fragmentary, with most of the motif preserved, some corrosion to the front and more so on the back. Remnants of mortar or plaster.

Provenance: Collection of Gunna Munkvad, Denmark, aquired from the 1950s-1980s.

This Tibetan Priest's rattle is carved from horn and has a bone cap on the end. It was used by the Monk during ceremonial rituals and would have been shaken to ward off evil spirits. This horn was hand carved with many Tibetan Buddist symbols. All the edges are worn smooth with use and repeated handling.

An antique Japanese Sendai Ko Bo Tansu (personal chest with locking bar) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. All original Urushi lacquer finish and hand made iron hardware with Warabite handles. The bottom main drawer has a lock plate that features the lucky Sho Chiku Bai motif with a crane and a turtle added for additional good luck and longevity. Antique Japanese pair of medium sized slider pulls in the shape of chrysanthemums, open work petals radiating from oval center inset, made of bronze with dark patina, Meiji Period. Total size:3 1/4" high x 2 7/8" wide. Size of center inset: 2" high x 1 5/8" wide.

18th to early 19th century Japanese bronze kozuka (sword knife) handle with low relief decoration of Kanzan and Jittoku looking at an open scroll. According to a legend, Kanzan and Jittoku lived in a kitchen of a Chinese Zen Buddhist monastery and talked nonsensical language, which some took as a sign of them being enlightened. Great design, excellent detailing, wonderful faces, very pleasant feel of age. Length 3.86 inches.

This Mayan alabaster poison bottle dates to the Classic Mayan period C300AD-600AD. It is 2 3/4" x 1 3/4". and has no repairs or restoration. It was found in Peten, Guatemala. It is from the well known Willard Leutze collection.
