The tile showing two warriors or deities fighting, one holding a dagger and both with elaborate headdresses.

Size: 26 x 19 cm. Thick.

Condition: Fragmentary, with most of the motif preserved, some corrosion to the front and more so on the back. Remnants of mortar or plaster.

This Tibetan Priest's rattle is carved from horn and has a bone cap on the end. It was used by the Monk during ceremonial rituals and would have been shaken to ward off evil spirits. 18th to early 19th century Japanese bronze kozuka (sword knife) handle with low relief decoration of Kanzan and Jittoku looking at an open scroll. According to a legend, Kanzan and Jittoku lived in a kitchen of a Chinese Zen Buddhist monastery and talked nonsensical language, which some took as a sign of them being enlightened.
