Ancient Chinese Buddhist Stone Panel, Dharma Wheel - Song / Yuan Dynasty

This stone panel, sometimes described as a "prayer tablet", was excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province in the South-West of China and dates to the 13th to 14th century, i.e. the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) or possibly the early Ming Dynasty...

19th century Asakusa school staghorn netsuke in manju shape with openwork carving of a winged water dragon in flight among clouds. Superb design and excellent quality sharp carving, beautiful warm patina, darker porous areas as is usual with staghorn. Loss to the part of the inner ring (not visible when manju is put together, photo #5, lower right image) not affecting integrity of the piece. Diameter 1.6 inches.

Late 18th to early 19th century iron Japanese sword tsuba depicting a scholar peacefully fishing by a stream under a rock with vines and pine growing on it, design continues on the back showing clumps of bamboo grass. Nicely designed quiet piece with perfectly captured mood, wonderful quality work with silver and gold inlays, in great condition. Height 3 5/16 inches.

Very unusual late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese scholar’s rock in a form of a natural mineral cluster wonderfully resembling a prickly pine tree. The stone is many-sided, providing different complete views. Beautiful object with extraordinary rich textured surface, fixed in newer fitted hardwood stand. I believe the mineral to be aragonite. Wonderful object for contemplation on scholar’s desk, beautiful patina. Height with stand 5 1/8 inches.

Antique Yixing - I Hsing teapot decorated with enamel floral and bird. The bottom of the teapot signed with the seal mark. PERIOD : late 19th Century MEASUREMENTS: 21 cm wide, 12 cm height. CONDITION: frits to the inner of the lid, no chips, cracks, hairlines and free from restorations.

A wood brush pot was in nice form.
It was well preserved despite the bottom cover was lost and was replaced by an old plank of wood.
The surface was in kind of dry-feel and in pale tint. But I believe it can be transformed easily by rubbing with wood wax and changed to a beautifulcolor.

The most unusual and unique Japanese soba (noodle) cup that we have encountered, with very beautiful contrasting colors and a garden scene that is breathtaking, a plethora of flowers and a bird swooping down from heaven will delight the senses of the discriminating collector. The footed feature of this soba cup along with the color combination is almost rarely never encountered, as I have never seen another in years...

A pair of small bronze foo dogs or foo lions created by the lost-wax casting process, showing traces from the mold. Both have a wonderful warm patina and would make excellent brush rests for a calligrapher's or artist's detail brushes. In excellent condition, they measure about 2" long x 1.5 inches high.

Red glazed lebes gamikos of rounded body and upright handles on either side.
Raised rim to accommodate a lid. Lower half of the body and ring base reserved.
Lebes gamikoi were vessels associated with marriage rituals held for both the living and the unmarried deceased.

SPLENDID ANCIENT BEADS NECKLACE
EGYPTIAN FAIENCE HYKSOS BEADS, 1550 BC

Impressive wearable necklace featuring Roman agate, carnelian and rock crystal beads beautifully recomposed “Restrung” using authentic ancient Egyptian faience Hyksos beads, terminated with sterling silver clasp so it can be safely worn today.

18th to early 19th century iron Japanese sword tsuba worked in low relief with an ama-ryu (rain dragon) in flight among pouring rain and wispy clouds. Clever and elegant design in Japanese taste, gilded highlights, in great condition. Height 2.86 inches.

This is a circular copper scholar’s ink box with etching of a love poem on top of the cover. It has three seal ark on it, one on the extreme right and two just below the two below the name of the author. A vintage necklace in fine twisted silver wire of ancient clay mummy beads and a large faience amulet of Bes, Late period to Roman period, c. 600-100 BC.

Size: 43 mm. for the amulet, the necklace is 29-30 cm. in a double row. Incl. a couple of - probably modern but old - charms in bronze or cobber.

Condition: Nice Very fine and intact.

A small box beautifully decorated with two different kind of hardwood veneer, probably zitan and huanghuali. Early 20th century. Condition: good vintage condition, there is one chip on the end the the cover. Please see photos for detail. Dimensions: 9-1/4" X 2-3/4" X 1-3/4".

A small but very attractive album leaf in ink and faint colors on silk depicting a scholar on an outing on a river or lake. Signed: Yue An zhu ren (Moon Hermitage Dweller). Dated gengshen = 1860. The style used is in imitation of the ‘dry or sparse ink landscape’ associated with the Yuan painter Ni Zan (1301–1374). Qing, mid-19th cent. H 23 cm, W 18.5 cm (picture frame). Condition: Fair w. some soiling.

Inkstone of rectangular shape, decorated in relief with an oval basin beside two dragons in clouds, in the style of Warring States period design. Light celadon jade. China, early 19th century, maybe earlier. Length: 9.2 cm. Tiny chips, otherwise very good condition.
