Japanese lacquered on Ceramic No Mask Obishimi Netsuke, Ca. 1920, Meiji period, 1 3/8" high, 1 1/8" wide, 3/4" deep, reddish brown lacquer on Ceramic with painted gold bull's eye, deep wrinkles on forehead, raised fat cheeks, details are bold and deep. The condition is good.
A rare, finely decorated, late Ming twin-handled bronze vase which still retains traces its original gilding. The vase carries the six character reign mark of the Xuande emperor (1426-1435) but this item was made later during the 16th or early 17th Century - possibly during the reign of the Wanli emperor (1573-1619). Buddha in very heavy cast bronze. Never been gilded. Very nice natural brown patina. Very well known model of the Kien-long period, which usually are gilded and marked with the reign and sometimes dated and which are always in embossed copper (see an example in my collection n°10). The one presented here is in cast bronze.
Good condition, some minor wear and shocks, no restoration.

A fine smaller iron key from a chest, Gothic type, early renaissance, c. 14th. century AD.
The key with a complicated S-shaped bit and gothic compartement bow. The stem is square and then round and solid.
The decoration of Gothic iron locks and keys was often elaborate and of the highest standard of workmanship. The motifs were frequently drawn from Gothic architecture, reproducing on a miniature scale complicated tracery patterns and even tiny statuettes...
This small hinged metal case is covered with leather and opens to display both red ink pot and personal ivory chop. The person's name on the base of the chop is clearly carved. Leather in old China was very expensive...the owner of this chop must been a person of both status and wealth. The leather shows age but is intact and set is in very good condition. The case measures 2.5" X 1+" This is a rare old piece.

A finely executed painting in gouache and ink, on embossed paper by the British manufacturer Henry Dobbs. Showing a girl with lotus feet, embroidering a silk yardage. Mounted in a blue passe-partout. Dimension: painting: 23.5 cm x 17.3 cm, paper: 38.8 cm x 30.5 cm. Condition: fine, only one tiny stain. Please see also SK 988.
Antique Japanese mixed metal kabuto (samurai helmet) and iron mempo (samurai face guard) mounted on metal stands.
The kabuto is also listed separately as item #1464528. A rare example Japanese zunari kabuto (samurai helmet) made all of iron with a mixed metal (gold & silver) design of a dragon in swirling clouds. The eyes and whiskers of the dragon are inlaid gold and it's body coils all the way around the hachi (dome)...

A Japanese Mokugyo wooden temple bell, carved from kusunoki (camphor) wood in the form of a lifelike human skull. Used to accompany chants (sutras) in Taoist and Buddhist ceremonies. The base of the skull is signed "Bononshi", with matching tomobako.

This is a fine Chinese Laque Burgaute (gold, silver, and iridescent mother-of-pearl foil inlaid into black lacquer) Snuff Bottle in an oval shape. The body, sides, bottom, neck, and shoulders decorated with geometric patterns and floral designs. The center medallions on both sides of the bottle, and the top of the original stopper decorated with a geranium flower, which symbolizes happiness, good health, good wishes, and friendship. The bottom has a mother-of-pearl inlaid of a flower...

This Tibetan shrine shaped gau (aka prayer box) is actually a religious shrine. When not being worn as an ornament during festivals, it would be kept in the prayer niche of the family home. The back of the box slides open. Frequently, a special prayer i.e. sutra pages would be placed inside. The small glass window at the front displays a Tsa tsa, which is a clay statue of a Buddhist Diety. These statues were made only by the monks and considered to be a holy relic...
