Antique amitung (door board) for a dwelling or ceremonial house of the Telefolmin people who live in the southern portion of Sandaun (West Sepik) Province of Papua New Guinea. 19th Century Chinese White Jade Carved Plaque Ruyi

It is 23.2 inches (59 cm) long by 5.4 inches (13.8 cm) wide. The largest jade plaque is 5.1 inches (13 cm) long by 4.7 inches (12.1 cm) wide. The smallest jade plaque is 2.8 inches (7.3 cm) long by 2.5 inches (6.5 cm) wide. It is 1.75 Lb.

It wood carving has chips, cracks, and surface wears and scratches. The jade plaques have surface wears and scratches and inclusions (as seen in the photos)...

Late 19th century netsuke of a peasant seated on a bundle of firewood smoking a pipe and helping to light the pipe of the other man with a rain hat. Old loss to the smoking parts of both pipes, Very good carving, great faces, multiple inlays to their clothes. Signed CHIKUZAN on inlaid lacquer plaque on the bottom - there is an artist who signed with these characters listed in NETSUKE by Neil Davey (p. 453, number 147), but I am not sure it is the one who carved this netsuke...

An ancient Egyptian Scarab for Tuthmosis III, c. 1450 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 5/16” long (8 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

A rare stacking Bento (picnic) box in the shape of a tea leaf storage jar decorated in a realistic fashion with black, silver and gold maki-e lacquer. It consists of four pieces, stacked they are 28 cm (11 inches) tall, and all are in excellent condition.

With an unusual European form, this oblong bowl with lid is decorated overall with a flower and butterfly design in shaded enamels on a white ground with an ultra marine blue secondary ground, as a banding around the lid and as a surround for the two flower cartouches on the bowl's exterior. A small turquoise band encircles the base of the bowl which rests on a flared foot. The interiors of both the lid and bowl are covered in a speckled, medium green enamel...

These are the following items to be posted at our site. A collection of very rare fluted cups from the Song Dynasty. Normally it is hard to find one single piece from this kind. There are three different Longquan ware cups, one rare Yaozhou kiln cup and one blueish grey glazed possibly Guan ware cup. These cups normally are a " must " for every serious collector of Song Dynasty ware.

This is a fine 18th century 5.75 inch Nabeshima footed dish with blue underglaze, decorated with two enameled peaches and leaves. There are two old gold lacquer repairs to the rim.
