This is a fine Japanese Satsuma sake pot or small teapot. It is signed by Kinkozan. It measures 4 1/2 inches across at the spout. The handle is slightly tattered but the pot is in excellent condition.

This Japanese netsuke is a lovely example of deer antler carved into a duo of abalone shells, the smaller resting on the surface of the larger shell. The piece has a wonderful old patina and is very tactile to the touch. The himotoshi are large and deep and there appears to be a very worn signature to the underside. This netsuke is in good condition with no damage.
DESCRIPTION: A very handsome antique Chinese Yu mu (Northern Chinese Elm) bed with carved center apron and stout, inward turning horse-hoof feet. The rectangular top of this bed is inset with rattan, supported by strong woven webbing underneath. Yu mu, or Northern Elm, has an elaborate and beautiful wave-like grain and is favored for Northern Chinese furniture.

A large antique Meiji period Kutani plate decorated with motifs of peonies set in the center of the plate surrounded by gold scrolling vines and stylized flowers. The pink peonies are done in an unglazed-like style while the blue peonies are done with glaze. The underside of the plate is decorated with scrolling vines set in a green background. Additionally, the center of the back contains the inscription, Dai Nippon Kutani sei, or produced by Dai Nippon Kutani...
A set of 7 fluted plates decorated with various plants symbolic to Japanese culture and motifs often seen in Japanese porcelains known as Imari ware. The plates contain an inscription, kigyoukuhoutei no chin, that often is associated with a specific type of Imari ware known as Daiseiji Imari ware. An antique Japanese Karatsu ware tea container or chaire with motif of donkeys painted on the side of the piece. An antique Bizen ware figure of Daikoku, one of the seven fortune gods in Japan. Daikoku is holding a mallet (uchide kozuchi) which Daikoku often holds. On the other hand, he is holding a two legged radish. The word radish in Japanese, daikon, is somewhat synonymous to Daikoku and a legend exist of how the two legged radish became associated with Daikoku. Age: Meiji Period. Shiro Satsuma (White Satsuma) ware sake decanter shaped in the form of a turtle. In Japanese, the word asobi may be translated as playful where the tail is stylized in the shape of a handle and the lid to the decanter is using one of the hexagonal piece of the back of the turtle. The decanter comes with a box. The underside of the lid contains an inscription: (translation) During the 17th year of Meiji (1884) , the piece was a gift from Mr. Habu and has been treasured since. Composite panel of antique embroideries from the Ottoman Empire, made into a rectangular shaped woman’s prayer cloth indicating qibla, the direction of prayer. The basic fabrics are different plain weaves, embroidered with silk and metal wrapped threads, composed and sewn together in the Ottoman city of Salonika or Kavala. This Chinese pinafore style garment would have been worn by a small girl child of the Dong ethnic minority in Shui Kou. Fabric is handwoven from cotton fiber, hand stitched with intricate decorative applique work and hand woven snowflake pattern ribbon accents the border. No rips, no tears, and no holes...but this piece is old and has been worn and is a bit "dirty".... and still has its original ties. It is 14 inches wide and 21 inches long...great ethnographic textile for framing.
