This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, more than 3,000 years old, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). The fine bucket hammered in repousee with some wonderful high relief depictions of leafs and cluster of grapes in the baroque manor. On the front a medallion with an inscription, which reads, GHENDT ANNO 1714. The bucket with an implement for a missing lid on the back. Typical wear and soldering during the time of use.
