A Japanese ivory brush holder carved in bas-relief with festive characters dancing and playing next to an elephant dressed for special occasions.
On the opposite side a large Japanese "Matsu" pine seems to cover and shade the entire scene.
The internal part is entirely patinated bronze with slightly gilded details of the symbols of the chrysanthemum and the pauwlonia flower, two symbolic elements linked to the emperor and the Tokugawa clan.

The scarab is engraved with robe pattern in the center and with other hieroglyphs to each side, untranslated.
The seat of power of the Hyksos kings was the city of Avaris in the Nile Delta, from where they ruled over Lower Egypt and Middle Egypt up to Cusae.

A long horizontal handscroll with ten individual hand-painted shunga scenes, of couples in the act of lovemaking. The focus is on the couples and their actions; there is no background. One couple uses a dildo. For as far as anyone wears a garment, those are decorated in fine details.

Etruscan Bucchero oenochoe (wine-pitcher), c. 550 BC, thin-walled (sottile), probably from South Etruria. Burnished smooth with black-to-tan color added. Part of one handle and part of the lip reattached 12.75” (32 cm) tall. A small piece on the bottom wasn’t filled so that one can see inside the piece. It was low-fired and is much more fragile than a high-fired piece. Do not hold it by its handles.
