This porcelain plate was produced in the U.S.A. by Lenox between 1894 and 1906. The plate has a diameter of 9 inches. It was commissioned for the retailer Bailey, Banks & Biddle of Philadelphia. The plate is artist signed W.H. Mosley who was a prominent painter at Lenox. The plate has a soft cream colored ground. Rustic round platter, called ishizara in Japanese, used in kitchens and commoners’ households. Pale yellow glaze that typically leaves the foot free. The plate is slightly warped, as is common with ishizara. Seto ware, Edo period.

The lid shows an open book with images of bamboo and flying sparrows and a scroll with raised images of leaves and foliage, and its sides have other auspicious maki-e elements such as butterflies and flowers...

19th century small Chinese scholar’s rock in a shape of a long mountain range. The piece gives a very strong feeling of weathered rock shaped by water and time, and overpowering energy of the mountain range. Beautiful black Qilian limestone (Mount Qilian, Gansu province) with rich texture, provides excellent views from both sides, great patina. Fixed on newer ebony stand, superb object for contemplation on scholar’s desk. Length with stand 5 inches.

Antique Chinese very heavy and dense hardwood table, very beautifully and ornately carved all over with scrolling vines and dragons motif with key fret motif along edges, dark color, Republic Period. Size: 34" high x 66 1/2" wide x 27 1/2" deep.

Chinese eggshell thin ding ware porcelain bowl, with celadon crackle glaze that ends just below the rim, left in bare porcelain. Inside the bowl, the well has a deeply incised outline contrasting with the inner walls of the bowl. The outer edges of the bowl are carved with delicate floral scrolls.
