Antique Japanese tansu with 7 exterior drawers of various sizes. The lower right hand side has a safe box door with 2 small interior drawers. Made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. Hardware includes warabite shaped drawer pulls, heavy lock plates and hinges.

An interesting antique bronze figure, Roman style, possible after antiquity, likely 19th. century AD.
A good bronze, likely of the god Herculas (now missing the club), with fine patina and mounted by way of a brass pin. The mounting is old and the collection whence it came is old too.
We're not certain about the age of this piece so we're selling it as antique but not as ancient.

This pair of Chinese lotus shoes, aka bound feet shoes, have a soft golden color silk vamp. Each side of the shoes is embroidered with the same pattern, and uses satin stitch silk thread.
The embroidery pattern on these lotus shoes has always mystified me. There is a woman and an animal that is possibly intended to be a giraffe. I vaguely remember some bits of information. The Chinese first heard about the African giraffes from verbal and written descriptions...

Fine and rare, large copper repousse and chased copper plate depicting a religious scene or narrative. This was acquired in Sri Lanka in the 1990s, the vendor said this was showing the life of Buddha, but the iconography suggests it is most likely Hindu as the central image is shown facing the left, sitting on a tiger pelt, set against a foliate scroll background. This crystal beaker or cup with silver lid was produced in Eastern Europe in 1810. There is a date engraved on the glass. We do not know who the maker was. It is 5 1/2 inches high and the diameter of the opening is 3 1/4 inches. The beaker is hand blown and cut from fine crystal. Very rare Daruma scroll from Futo Sanjin better known as Kanokogi Takeshiro, (1874-1941). He was mainly a western style - painter, studied in France before returning to Kyoto to establish his own school. In his later years was a juror for the esteemed Bunten and Teiten Art expositions. This painting is all the more remarkable because this was a rare stab at the classic zenga ink paintings. This Daruma is a classic in itself. C.1920. Ask for shipping quote.
Japanese plique-a-jour bowl with roses and plum blossoms. The bowl has a silver rim and small feet. Red roses with blue and maroon plum blossoms on a green ground. It measures 3.25" diameter, 2" tall. Meiji Period 1868-1912.
