This is a superb Chinese yixing teapot GONJU with dark brown clay. It's well balanced in the hand. There are some chips in the inner lid, otherwise it's in excellent condition. It's signed GONGJU mark on the base.
This is a CHINESE WINE VESSEL or KENDI in the form of a DUCK. This Porcelain DUCK has an Unusual TURQUOISE GLAZE and dates circa 1850 to 1875. Size is 5 1/4" X 7 1/2" not including Stand. No marks. From a Washington D.C. area suburb.

There are a total of eight signs, each with a different "saying" having to do with well wishes. Due to the age of the calligraphy, and the vagueres of the old Chinese language, accurate translations have not been possible for each sign. This is a Japanese Nishijin obi made in exceptionally high quality. The obi is old but almost in perfect condition. It is beautiful to look at even without using a magnifying glass. The soft colors have an earth tone and the use of the dyed threads tells us that this is a superior work of Kyoto Nishijin. Pair lovely Minton porcelain cabinet plates featuring handpainted pastoral scenes. One shows a footbridge over a rushing stream and the other shows a pair of cows wading in a pond. Both are surrounded by Minton's famous turquoise blue. The edges are gilt and embossed with a foliate pattern. The backs are impressed "Minton" and have the year mark for 1879.
