Antique Japanese small sterling silver box with handle, hinged doors on front decorated with incised design of lady's cart, sides decorated with blossoming plum branches, interior has four small wooden drawers with velvet lining and silver moko shaped drawer pulls, sterling mark on back, Meiji Period. Size: 6 1/4" high x 5 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" deep.

Simply beautiful...describes this Japanese lacquer tray table which would have been used for serving sake. From the Meiji period, the deep rich black roiro-nuri lacquer background sets the scene for the emaki-e gold paint depicting a landscape of trees, flowing water and hills.

Description:

A bronze boy was well cast in solid way.
In lying posture, the boy was half-naked revealing his hips and penis.
It was believed from the unknown custom of the Sa-Man people of north-eastern China.
Nice and warm patina was kept when sandy-feel surface was left due to long time of age.
Adhesives were preserved in the crevices.
It can be a nice brush-rest by the lying shape.

Date: 10th-12th centuries, Liao/Jing periods.

Statue of the Judge of the Souls, standing in formal attire, holding the register of merits and demerits of human souls in both hands. Patinated wood, with traces of the original polychrome pigments in the recesses. China, early Ming Dynasty, probably earlier. Height: 13" (33 cm). Obvious signs of great age, old insect infestation (no more danger), left foot missing, otherwise good condition.

An excellent bamboo imitated brush holder in excellent best quality. The center has a small ribbon knot illustrating a rope holding the bamboo together. The brush holder is in best quality and very hard to find. condition: Very good condition. Small rim and foot-ring frittering. Further no damage or restorations. Measurement: hight 10.3 cm = 4.1 in

A small but very nice very well potted Famille rose enamelled vase. Late Qing Dynasty Guangxu period. H : 8,3 cm. Condition : One glaze loss to the edge of the rim which can be seen on the last image, otherwise in perfect condition.

This set of 12 porcelain luncheon plates was produced in England by Cauldon in the late 19th century. They were made especially for Tiffany in New York. The plates measure 8 3/4 inches in diameter and 3/4 of an inch deep. The rim of the plate is thicker and raised in order to accentuate the decoration. The Centers of the plates are slightly indented. There are cobalt blue oval indentations outlined with beaded gold alternating with tiny hand painted roses and forget-me-nots on the rims...

A silver washer was nicely in floral shape and was decorated on the side with motifs of bamboo troves.
The beautiful pattern was well rendered by excellant chiselling and engraving workmanship.
Nice and darken patina was yielded when some old restorations were found in portions.

Unguentaria used to hold poisonous, caustic oils or ointments and were never smooth sided, to prevent the Roman from grabbing the dangerous oil by mistake. It is certainly one of the earliest poison bottles ever made. Measurements: 2 inches tall and 1 wide at its widest point...
