A Very/Fine Buddhist Painting “A Judge of the Hell”-19th C.
Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century. Framed with plexi glass.
A quite large Buddhist painting with an inscription on the right top,
a judge sentencing with a guardian (secretary), painted in a very colorful
natural mineral pigments on silk,
It’s in very fine condition but it has a water stain on the lower bottom,
now it removed from a frame, it measures 31”x 20.25” (79cm x 51.5cm).
A bronze plate with shaped rim, beautifully decorated, in gold lacquer with sparrows among bamboo and plants. Base signed "Kyoto Okuda sei". Dimension: diameter: c. 20.3 cm, c. 1.2 cm high. Condition: fine, only minor wear and lacquer loss.
This rare Qing Dynasty mirror folds flat for storage and traveling. The hand-carved wooden frame depicts bamboo stalks, and the mirror cover carving depicts an iris plant in full bloom. The cover drops forward and down thru the legs to the rear where it acts as a back support while the mirror is in use.
Protected by a rear wood panel, the original silvered glass mirror does show its age...
An antique Japanese Kiri Kasane Tansu (stacking chest on chest) made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. All original finish and hand made iron fittings. Two small drawers behind the small hinged door. Hidden behind the bottom small drawer is a secret pull-out box that was used to store valuables by the original Japanese owner of this chest.

A really extremely nice and decorative white glazed Jar.
Well potted porcelain body with a very delicate molded decoration and four lugs, covered with a very nice clean-white glaze.
H : 9,9 cm. Diameter : 9,8 cm.
Condition : There is a filled hole in the bottom, further this piece is in a really excellent condition - not the smallest crack or chip, even all four lugs are in perect condition, which is rare to find.

This is a well-hollowed, Flattened, Rectangular with rounded shoulders tapering towards base, with long rounded neck , with a raised splayed oval recessed footing, snuff bottle. It is made from deep green with black vertical bands malachite. It is carved, in high relief, with a scene of birds in a pond amid lotus plants. It comes with a like material stopper.

An antique Japanese Kansai Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Beautiful original Urushi lacquer finish and hand made iron fittings including the Warabite handles. Sliding doors hide a spacious area that was used to store business books and records while the 11 drawers held all things suitable for a merchant e.g. writing brushes, inkstone, receipts, valuables and money.

Pair Chinese Hardwood Display Shelves/Stands, Ca early 1900's, 21" high, 31" wide, 7" deep each, very heavy dense Hardwood shelves with rounded corners, for the Scholar's display purpose for their precious small objects. Multiple shelves are between 4" to 10" high and 5" to 19" wide. It is very difficult to find a pair in this quality and condition. The weight is heavy and the condition is good.
Head of the Buddha shown with solemn expression. The refined facial features with arched eyebrows over heavy lidded eyes and a sensitively modeled mouth with purse lips.
The half open eyes with their barely indicated irises confer the head a meditative gaze.
The hair is delicately textured with a central bun (usnisha) on top.
The idealized style is reminiscent of Greek Hellenistic sculpture which lived on among Gandharan artists.
