This is a finely carved 19th century boxwood netsuke depicting a sleepy Momotaro, a name that means Elder son of the Peach, who is seated as he emerges from the kernel of a giant Peach that rests on top of a tree branch. Mask of the "Nuo" esoteric theater representing the character of Bao Gong, or Judge Bao, also named "King of Inferno" because he also goes down to visit the Inferno to inquire about the souls. The mask was carved on wood on which lacquer and polychrome pigments were painted. China, mid-19th century. Height: 12 1/4" (30,5 cm). Old insect damage (no more danger), otherwise good condition.

A rare bronze (copper & tin alloy) incense burner in the form of a Qilin made in China during the late Ming period.
Condition: the cover is missing and there is a small hole in the base; there is copper oxidation inside the tail and there are traces of the original black lacquer coating between its scales and in some of the recesses.

An antique Japanese Kotansu small chest made of Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood. All original lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware. Most likely a bespoke commissioned chest suiting the owner who wanted to secure the 5 storage drawers behind a hinged door. Interesting 3 side handle configuration suggesting that the contents that was stored was haavy in weight.
