19th century boxwood netsuke by Nagamachi Shuzan of an actor in a role of Kiyohime turning into a demon. Kiyohime was a daughter of an innkeeper whose advances on a monk were not reciprocated, so her love turned into wrath, and she trapped him under a temple bell, turned into a dragon and melted the bell killing the monk. She is holding a bell striker in her hand and has a very unusual feature for the carver - the mask is inlaid, probably a unique model by the artist...
Rare alabastron of conical shape and flat base, disk mouth and strap handle.
Decorated with brown and reddish bands around the body. Near the bottom a reserved band with hooks (stylized running dogs). Brown tongues on neck and collar, brown bars on the handle.
Similar to the Egg of Columbus, this type of flat-bottomed alabastron needs no additional support to stand upright.
The rarity of Columbus alabastra is noteworthy.

This is a beautiful Pelican Lake point found in Wyoming that I purchased from the Arley Hudson collection in 1987. It is made from a gorgeous waxy translucent orange moss agate with two ribbons of white agate showing on the lower right side. The reverse side is heavily patinated from exposure. It is 2" long. It is extremely well chipped. You won't be disappointed with this one.
Unique and very rare. This all-original solid gold watch was made especially for HOWARD & Co. 5th Ave., New York in 1879. This American Silversmith and Jeweler specialized in fine Silversmithing. This firm was established in 1866 by Edward T. and Joseph KP. Howard. Branches were opened in Newport and London. The last heard of from this Jeweler was 1922.

Small 18th century Indian bronze shrine in a form of a courtyard with Shiva, his wife Parvati and Naga (hooded cobra) between them, and facing them their elephant-headed son Ganesha, Nandi the bull of Shiva, another Naga (hooded cobra) and Shiva lingam. Very nice simple devotional sculpture with earnest casting and detailing, good patina from being touched during worship, a lot of compressed dust, very pleasant feel of age. Length 1 3/16 inches.
Museum quality, because there was a bowl with a quite similar decoration in the Percival David Foundation which is now in the collection of the British Museum. ( please have a look at the last image )

Condition : Chipped, very fine short hairline that however nothing changes in the fact, that this is a amazing piece.
Choson period, 1800s
The top is decorated with a mountainous landscape with trees and stylized birds in flight. The sides have three calligraphic flourishes. A low footring encircles the glazed base. Sand and kiln grit covers the entire footring with small areas of sand adhering to the base. The pouring spout has been restored and there is a small, shallow chip on the top near the edge above the mountain.

Acquired in Japan in 1975.
A large uninscribed heart scarab, Rameside to Late Kingdom, c. 12th.-6th. century BC.
The scarab carved in a greyish type of stone, stylized type made to be placed at the heart of the body. The details of the head and front faintly incised.
Size: 55 mm. long and 34 mm. wide. Made of a heavy type of stone.
Condition: Good very fine for type, finely patinated.
