An elegant and beautiful Derby porcelain figure of "Flora," from the "Antique Seasons" set. Flora (or Spring)stands on a tall plinth, is wearing a diadem of flowers, has gathered her robe in her left hand, and is offering a wreath with her right. The Antique Seasons set was made in 1771, and each has the model number "5" incised in the base. It is described in Peter Bradshaw's book "Derby Porcelain Figures 1750-1848" as being exceedingly rare...

From our Shipwreck Porcelain Collection, a fine blue and white porcelain dish, ex-Christie's, executed in the "Boatman Pattern" from the so-called "Nanking Cargo," which is the term applied to the porcelain recovered from the wreck of the Geldermalsen that sank on January 3rd, 1752. The Geldermalsen was a cargo ship belonging to the Dutch East India Company that struck a reef on its way back from Canton China, and sank off the coast of Indonesia in the Linnga archipelago...

Chinese porcelain blue and white cup, shaped in resemblance to a Tibetan butter lamp. Adorned with bold and complex designs of lotuses, scrolling vines, and eight Sanskrit characters along the outer sides. The interior design is of an eight petal flowering motif surrounded by double rings. The tall foot flares dramatically with a raised ring near the base of the cup, with motifs of draping pendants. Splendid Chinese marble Moghul bowl with variety of gems inset in gold. The gems vary between beautiful and radiant ruby, emerald and sapphire. Decorated all over with a peony motif. An interesting kaku nagazara, rectangular dish designed for use in the Kaiseki meal. It is decorated primarily in a three colour Imari palette, more typically found on porcelain produced for export to the West. The central reserve is decorated in kinsai style with gilt and gilt outlined enamels with a “winter” landscape incorporating Bamboo, Take, Pawlonia, Kiri and Suisen, Japanese Narcissus partially obscured by cloud like ground fog, and finger form kuomo style clouds...

From our Chinese Polychrome Collection, a truly superb example of Qianlong Period (1736-1795) Famille Rose porcelain, depicting a lady receiving what is either wine or tea, while her female servant attends to her with a fan. The outer border is decorated with eight individual reserves executed alternatively in either puce or black, with each puce reserve so well-executed that they are essentially miniature paintings in their own right...

A nagazara of conventional rectangular form decorated somenishikide style, a combination of underglaze blue, sometsuke, and, nishikide, enamelled decoration. Nishiki literally means brocade. In this case a dense diaper pattern made up of repeating and contrasting cells of Karahana against an iron red ground and five petal flowers, presumably, ume hana, Plum flowers against a striated green ground, usually used to suggest pine needles...

This diminutive black basalt wax seal was made by Wedgwood in the late 18th C. as a protest against slavery and features Hercules. The condition is nearly immaculate with no defects to report. The hole at the top was to attach to a lanyard or neck chain or necklace. This item is quite rare and collectible. Dimension: 7/8" h
