This Japanese tooled leather tobacco pouch (tabakoire) is embossed with a large dragon swirling about the back and front. The metal clasp is decorated with a coiled dragon. This is a magnificent little pedestal bowl from ancient Korea. It dates to the Silla period(57 BCE-935 CE). The body is conical with rectangular perforations common to the era. The lid has been restored from 3 large fragments. Beautiful Korean antiquities are quite scarce so don't miss this fantastic find. It measures about 20 cm in height.
