Statue of Jambhala, also known as Kubera or Vaishravana, wearing necklace, dhoti and diadem, sitting on a double lotus throne, holding the mongoose that spits jewels in his left hand and a currency in his right hand. The statue may have had a mandorla affixed at its back in the past. Bronze, with green and reddish patina particularly under the statue. Tibet, early 19th century. Height: 7 cm. Very good condition. NOTE: Kubera is the Tibetan God of Wealth and Prosperity.

A carved cinnabar lacquer stembowl and cover.
The splayed foot decorated with lotus scroll, the stem with a central spherical mid section carved within two borders of lappets, the body decorated with panels of scholars and attendants within mountainous landscapes. The shoulder and cover decorated with lotus scrolls, the finial in the form of a chrysanthemum blossom. The lacquer over a metal base.

Very fine example of a Japanese Kiyomizu Tenmoku Chawan with aesthetic Namako (sea cucumber) glaze. It was made around 1900 and is in perfect antique condition. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Antique Japanese unusual single-section clothing tansu, with Kiri (Paulownia) wood front drawers, Sugi (cedar) interior, with a Hinoki (cypress) wood pair of slatted, locking safe doors. Attractive, natural woodgrain with original dark finish. This piece comes from the Kyusu area of Japan and is rarely seen.

We present another awesome Shino-Oribe Chawan from our collection: Greyish-whithe glaze amalgamates with a wild and roughly thrown body and a still vivid and strong glaze. It is very heavy for a tea bowl, almost 500g. Please note that there is also an interesting kiln mark.
The chawan dates from the Meiji Period (1868-1912) and comes with a very good wood box.

Enamel decoration of Ho-o (Japanese mythological Phoenix) in the Kakiemon pallete - black, red, blue, green, yellow and gold overglaze enamel - applied over the glaze inside the dish. Antique Japanese scroll painting on silk, of a lone black bird perched on a blossoming branch. Signed with seal of possible artist, Kano Tanen. The name is 淡淵 (alternate form for the 2nd character: 渕).
