Cypriot; Holy Land – Late Bronze Age, 1550 – 1200 BC

Burnished pottery spindle-shaped body, long cylindrical ridged neck, flat out-turned broad rim, flat handle from neck to shoulder, splaying base. Dark brown to blacl smooth burnished suface.

A fine large black serpentine stamp seal of scarce round form, Mesopotamia, Ubaid-Uruk period, 4th.-3rd. mill. BC.

The seal is carved with a fine angled cross motif with triangular forms (arrow-points or wedges) in each field, all a high relief. It has a low pierced handle on the back.

An antique Japanese Kasane Tansu (stacking chest on chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware including the full moon lock plates and the Kakute style handles. The backplates of the handles feature the auspicious Sho Chiku Bai (Pine, Bamboo, Plum Blossom) motif. Side carrying handles to each section with rare connecting pins to secure both sections together. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails...

A large figure of the Daruma in celadon glaze by Teishitsu Gigei-in Suwa Sozan I set on to a rosewood stand and enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The beautifully carved face and feet are in raw, burnt clay, the rest is entirely robed in pale green. It is 18.5 x 16.5 x 36cm (7-1/4 x 6-1/2 x 14 inches) plus the stand and is in excellent condition, signed inside with his koban shaped oval seal...

A pair of antique Chinese Horseshoe chairs made of solid Zitan wood. They each feature a 3 section S-curve back splat with floating panel seats and a front that has an apron with a cloud motif and a foot stretcher. The back splat has symbol carvings related to the boar.

This is a 19th Century finely carved Japanese Netsuke depicting a Rat curiously standing upon a pair of fish, and ferns that are attached to a branch. Beautiful form and meticulous detail. Excellent hairwork on the mouse, and intricacies of the fern. Stained for effect. Very creative use of the objects to outline the large uneven himotoshi. Signed on a leaf, right next to the cord holes. Netsuke measures 1.85 inches (4.7cm) wide, and 1.05 inches (2.6cm) tall...
