19th century kagamibuta (“mirror lid”) netsuke with metal top depiction a tiger on rocks by the sea and a dragon in flight among swirling clouds about to engage in a fight. Very nice pairing of most powerful Zodiac animals, bronze disc with gilding, tiger is inlaid with shakudo (alloy of copper and gold) with characteristic black patination resembling lacquer. Jar carved with vertical petal-like ribs and is topped with a round cover that has undulating edges and a ribbed petal-like dome. It is covered overall in a green celadon glaze, except for the base. A gosu blue Satsuma sculpture depicting Jurōjin 寿老人, one of the seven lucky God (shichifukujin 七福神) holding a fan with his right hand and finely decorated with red, turquoise and blue polychrome enamels enriched with gold motifs. A pair of Satsuma vases decorated with two scenes one is a scene of a group of samurai strolling around the streets of Edo and another view is a group of court nobles walking in a garden like setting. Cast bronze vase. Very elegant unusual shape. Decorated with a dragon in high relief. Probably Japanese rather chinese and very old Edo period, 18th century or before. The metal has an excellent patina of a beautiful brown color. Below a mark with Chinese characters. 205mm x 185mm. Slightly dented, barely visible. Original patina, not cleaned.

An authentic Tang pottery horse and rider who is holding some kind of musical instrument. The horse and rider are covered with the remaining white slip that all original Tang pottery should have. Japanese shigaraki jar, Edo period 17th-18th century, thickly potted, the skin showing the characteristic pock marks and imbedded fieldspar with a natural ash glaze. This jar was originally used to store tea but became desired as an object of mingei beauty due to the tea ceremony aesthetics. It measures 4.5" wide at mouth 21' tall.

Antique Japanese iron tsuba (sword hand guard) decorated with mixed metal gold and silver inlay. One side show a scene of a small dog playing with a grass hopper amidst grasses and flowers. In the distance are mountains topped with gold. The reverse side is signed by the maker and shows a scene of a small sleeping dog curled up in the bamboo by a stream.
