DESCRIPTION: A Japanese Sumida vase with oval neck rim covered in a rich, thick flambé glaze running midway down the vase. A high relief figure of a man balanced on a rocky ledge, holding an umbrella, is contrasted against the red, ribbed body of the vase. Excellent condition with no chips. Hard porcelain dish, cobalt blue underglaze decoration. Completely hand painted. No printed or decaled design. The openings are cut empirically with a very simple tool. The drawing is very well executed by an excellent painter, especially the dragon. There are tiny scales, one of which is large but very superficial. Enlarged photos show them to us. Antique Chinese Shiwan porcelain from the Republic Period, a finely hand-sculptured figurine depicting Daoist (Taoist) immortal Li Tieguai seated on a rocky base wearing a flowing monastic robe hanging from his left shoulder, clasping a crutch in his left hand, and a calabash gourd stands to his right.

Xuantong 1909-1912, kaishu mark in regular script. Demonstrates clearly a feature that is often called hollow or fractured, line. The decoration of the piece, iron red bats among clouds is in a distinctly different style as compared to similarly decorated pieces of the previous reign...

Late 19th to early 20th century Chinese agate carving of a goose standing in a stream by the rocks as it pecks a flowering peony bush. Beautiful stone, clever use of its natural color to differentiate the bird from the plant, excellent quality carving, high polish to the surface. Height 1.6 inches.

A complete smoking pipe in the Turkish style with red clay pipe bowl, maybe made in Europe, with gilt metal mountings. Stamped. The wooden stem with velvet and metal mountings is ending in a yellow glass mouthpiece. Condition: traces of usage, wear to velvet and gilding, mouthpiece with a chip. These extraordinary Sumida Gawa vases have a red ground with leaf-shaped moulding wrapped around the surface. Thick earthy-coloured flambe glaze cascades down from the rims and over branch-like double handles. Large original Antique Japanese large low-fire ceramic mask of the Lucky God, Daikoku. His laughing face is round and painted with charming detail to his beards and eye brows. He is wearing his traditional hat that has been hand painted with great detail. One of the Lucky Gods, Diakoku is the God of Good Fortune as well as a god of the kitchen. It is possible that this mask may have hung on the wall in a temple's kitchen...

Tibetan wood polychrome carving of Saraswati or Yangchenma in Tibet, the goddess of learning, wisdom, music, and aesthetics. She is seated on her vehicle, a swan, and holds flowers in both of her hands. The charming figure is well carved with pigments of red, black, green, yellow and gold gilt.

This necklace is composed of 59 spherical beads of variegated nephrite jade connected by a ½ inch gold clasp. The beads graduate from smaller at the ends to larger toward the middle. Each bead is mottled with apple-green, white and black colors and display a soft polish from wear. Overall good condition.

Wonderful Antique Japanese Imari two-piece flower arranger, Meiji Period c 1868-1912; the bowl with looped and reticulated border of interlocking rings, the interior decorated with blue, orange and beige fish and lilies, auspicious symbols of longevity and good fortune. The underside marked with a lucky symbol. The bowl is in good condition, some flaking on the perforated cover. No restoration or chips. The dish measures 12" diameter x 2 3/4" high.

White jadeite carving, with areas of orange, of a smiling immortal man with long, flowing robes and his hair tied into a bun. He is identified as an immortal being by his long earlobes. His left hand holds the sash of his belt, while his right hand holds what appears to be a yoke over his shoulder.
