Noren, a shop curtain made of hemp (taima) whose wefts and warps are hand plied and dyed with kakishibu (persimmon tannin). It has the shop logo "Tawara (俵)”with sumi. All hand sewn. This is han-jyuban in Edo period(1800-1867). Silk tsumugi itajime of the safflower dye is an arabesque motif in the lion. The shoulder surrounding is scenery of the travel (Tokaido) in Edo period. The katazome is very exact and beautiful. The material of katazome is wool. There are a little color variation and a small hole. The state is very good. Very fine red lacquered saber (dao) scabbard fitting from the Nùng people Vietnam. They are well known for their sword making so it makes sense they would put the same effort into their accoutrements. This is an old semi antique piece circa 1950 excellent condition and intricate carving. L: 14cm/5.5in W: 5.9cm/2.3in and Thickness 2.4cm/1in.

Unusual subject - normally they are wrestling, but here it does not seem to be the case - the monkey is smiling. The wood tray is 16.1 inches (41 cm) long by 18.1 inches (46 cm) wide and 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) tall. The dishes are 1.2 inches (3.1 cm) tall by 5.3 (13.5 cm) to 6.1 inches (15.5 cm) long and 3.1 inches (8 cm) to 4.7 inches (12 cm) wide. The total weight is 5.8 lb.

High-quality Greek black-glazed skyphos with straight walls and two horizontal handles. The ring foot is skillfully modeled with carefully turned inside.

Antique Chinese Jun Ware (Chun Yao) chawan (tea bowl) with grey-blue glaze. Outside with drips of dark and light blue glaze mingling to create greens and browns. Evaluation done in the 1930's by TZ Shiota when the family was inheriting the collection from their great grandfather, Federic Torrey. The collection was stored in a trunk since his death in 1935.

Glazed Gnathia ware oinochoe with trefoil spout and arched handle. The body decorated with leaf-sprays suspended from a band with egg pattern and dots.
The intended black color of the vase changed to a warm red-brown due to excessive heat. Standing on a small ring foot.

Campanian kylix with four palmettes linked by incised arcs to form a ‘palmette cross’. Thin-walled cup with shallow bowl and gently rounded floor.
Finely impressed palmettes. The linking arcs impressed with a twisted wire.
Former collector’s numeration (95) inside the carefully modeled ring foot. Dark points around the foot indicate that the cup was hold with four fingers when dipped into the black glaze.
