One of the legendary designs in the index of vintage Mexican silver jewelry, the "armadillo" can be found with both Hector Aguilar's signature and that of Manuel Altamirano's. It has been emulated by other maestros as well, less-celebrated and anonymous, yet the most important names associated with it are definitely the first two even though it was Valentin Vidauretta who created it...

Piedra y Plata was the name of Felipe Martinez's taller. He was known for his incredible stone work. He sourced gorgeous stones for his treasures he produced and I believe the stones here are Chrysocolla. They have natural matrix running through out. This bracelet is 7 inches long and 1 inch tall. Unadulterated commitment to minimalism - this is the statement this Antonio Pineda modernist bracelet makes. I have sold this specific design a couple of times in the past but its unpretentious beauty never fails to impress me. Wrought in the maestro's favorite .970 alloy, it has had a long, happy life and is now waiting for its next caretaker. It has a 6 3/4" inner circumference (clasped) with a width just shy of 1" wide and weighs a good 110.4 grams...

When I saw this necklace I was rather stunned by it's workmanship and unusual beauty. Obviously Modernist but also Brutalist. The smaller beads are also all handmade and of varied sizes. The clear stone is non purified rock crystal and in it's raw form with facets. You can see some striation inside it but it is mostly clear. The large beads have been heated up until they literally blew up. Upon cooling they shrunk inward. The artist signed as shown...

Based on the dramatic contrast of highly polished silver against dark, oxidized backgrounds, Sigi's jewelry is eye-catching without having to be burdensomely elaborate. The necklace at hand illustrates, I believe, my assertion in the best possible way. Gorgeous, a pleasure to wear and to behold, and a true Tasco (sic) modernist treasure. It measures just shy of 16" long (wearable) with the central mirrored part of it being 4" wide and 1" tall (at its tallest); the width of the chain itself is 5/...
