Early, heavy, wrought in fine purity .980 silver the stupendous chain in this pendant necklace is obviously based on Hector Aguilar's "v" link design. Bearing simply a raised mark for Taxco and the metal content hallmark, it is without any doubt comparable to the renowned maestro's original both in heft as well as in level of craftsmanship and quality of materials used. Its deep and careful hand-chased details reflect the warmly ornamentation on the locket pendant I have paired it with...

One of the most interesting - and few - female figures of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance, Doris Smith Chamberlin was a Texas-born American who decided to move to Mexico in the 1940s to open her own workshop after having completed post-graduate studies in art and having taught woodworking, textile-making and silver-smithing for a few years in California (I am grateful to Decotini for the information)...

Circa mid-century, this quatrefoil necklace from Antonio Pineda is a stunning statement piece.

Executed in 970 silver, the clover shaped pendant features a center cross surrounded by four onyx arcs, and hangs on a velvet cord tipped with silver balls. A thick, solid, and heavy piece, exquisitely crafted and collector quality.

This is a heavy set by Victoria weighing 84 grams. 7/8th inch tall and 16 in. long. The silver is soft to the touch. The swirl inside the dome appears to be hand carved but is hand cut with each swirl a bit different. The open cut makes it appear to be darkened. The earrings dangle 1.25in. with a screw back mechanism. Rarely found just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!

This is an old linear hallmarked Los Castillo leaf #560 design by Margot Van Voorhees while married to Antonio Castillo. Absolutely one of the most stunning bracelets in this largest size of 1 1/8th inches tall. The weight is 106 grams reflecting the quality of Los Castillo designs. It fits more like a bangle as the leaves overlap to hook the secure closure. Rounds the wrist perfectly and fits an average sized wrist. No damage or repairs of any kind...

There are no damages or repairs on this treasure. The patina is natural and dark. I added a picture of a Doris Silver pectoral also listed on my site that is a wonderful pairing to this bracelet. One of the rarest, in my experience, bracelets by Margot de Taxco out of her, influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, hand-hammered and oxidized line of jewelry, the Quetzalcoatl mirrored on this clamper's opposing wings is fierce and awe-inspiring. Monumental in its presence, the bracelet is an ode to Mexico's rich cultural history and definitely not a piece for the ... faint-of-heart. I am thrilled I was lucky enough to find it and am more than proud to be presenting it here...

Enrique Ledesma was known for the use of beautiful stones and impeccable workmanship. This bracelet is a published design in Penny Morrill books on the subject of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. The stones are magnificent showing only natural lines to the stones. I really could not capture their beauty with my camera. The barrels are all straight showing off the crisp condition as well. The length is 7in. long and one inch tall. The hallmark is rubbed but there...

The drop is 6in. long and the beads are much larger than the chains beads at 13mm. Again all the crosses on the drop are extremely thick silver and are also hand made. Pieces like this were normally not signed and this one is of no exception...

A stunner of a brooch, this Antonio Pineda sterling silver and amethyst floral cluster hails the maestro's finding himself as a modernist. Antonio's early pieces betray the strong influence Valentin Vidauretta exerted on his work, so much so that one acquainted with Pineda's classic design period would find it difficult to recognize them as Antonio creations. Yet here, the artist has already found his "hand". Minimalism yet full of exuberant life, sculpturality that makes you want to hold the br...
