Shown in the Gobi Stromberg book "Silver Seduction : The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda", this book-piece design is a superb bracelet from Antonio Pineda. It's an extremely difficult design to produce, and it is most definitely a statement piece.

Composed of nine curved "V" links, each is tipped with two bezel-set turquoise cabochons. It's an unusual piece, and one which is very seldom seen...

I have always seen this signed Aguilar but it has been thought to be a Valentin Vidaurreta design. It is thought to resemble a Mask and is a sleek jewel at 5/8's inches tall and weighs a mere 27 grams of thick silver. The silver is 940 pure and with no damage but plenty of glare. There is a natural dark patina.

Today I have a big 1.5in. tall necklace to offer with an incredible presence. How can I describe this piece other than to say it looks like an Aguilar or Spratling design but it is an original design marked with TAXCO 980. There are no dents to the balls and the silver work has no damage. The weight is 105 grams of quality workmanship. Being 19 inches long there is room enough to fit most. When collecting and I run across something this stellar I do not care who it is signed by or with no name...

Signed in 3 places with early marks is this rare Matilde Poulat necklace. The Matl's center is a tulip with turquoise and coral stones. The bird of choice is the turkey which I believe is the best I have seen turkeys displayed by Matl. The flow into the tulip is majestic. Finger coral adorns the birds along with the tiniest turquoise beads. The length is 18 inches and the drop measures 5.5in. across. It is hard to measure the height of the drop to be exact but I see it closest to 2.75in. Quality...

I am offering a rare amethyst Antonio Pineda bracelet. It is trapezoidal in shape with straight barrels and no chips or cracks to the stones. The stones range from dark purple to some stones with lighter swirls. It is properly hallmarked as shown and displays a light patina. I have tried to show the bracelet in different light for the best viewing of all links. Pineda used 970 silver content for his work giving it a whiter look as it has a low alloy content. There is a light patina showing and ...

Strong in concept & design this awesome bracelet was created & signed c. 1950's by Taxco, Mexico modernist Antonio Pineda (1919-2009). 1 1/8" tall with an interior wearable length of 7" this piece weighs a hefty 126 grams. The six large, hand carved obsidian stones catch the light beautifully, emitting a deep, subtle glow from within as the wrist moves. Both the stones & silver are in pristine condition. Enrique Ledesma was known for the use of beautiful stones and impeccable workmanship. This bracelet is a published design in Penny Morrill books on the subject of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. The stones are magnificent showing only natural lines to the stones. I really could not capture their beauty with my camera. The barrels are all straight showing off the crisp condition as well. We are offering design 263 which is one of the early Los Castillo pre-Columbian swirls. The necklace is one of the most magnificent Los Castillo designs and this one is 17 in. which makes it fit nicely as most are very short in length. This is properly hallmarked with the old linear Los Castillo hallmark as shown. There are many copies out there but this one is genuine and a pre-1948. One of the Los Castillo workshop earlier creations as is indicated by its low design number the “koi fish” bracelet dates from the years when Margot de Taxco was still married to Antonio Castillo and under the spell of Japanese aesthetics. The bracelet I am presenting here has all the distinctive elements of the motif – the fish swim in and out of undulating waves with air bubbles surrounding them and their tiny scales are carefully rendered en repoussage. Wonderful patina, comfortable art...

One of Margot de Taxco's very best and most loved designs numbered 5184. A really fantastic early vintage Mexican Silver Cross with original chain by Matilde Poulat and signed with her old mark MATL. The hanging angels are so special with hand carving to the tops. This is the first time I have owned one with a chatelaine. A chatelaine's purpose is to make it more decorative with a smoother lead into the drop. Please note that both the chatelaine and the cross has cut outs under the amethyst stones to aid in more of a glow. This is the type of Mexican Silver Renaissance necklace that you hope you will find at some point in your collection. Valentin Vidaurreta was a premier designer starting in 1931 designing for Frederick Davis and had a workshop in Mexico City. The head is the larger size with varied tones of large blue turquoise stones. Old Matl is so hard to find and this design is seen mostly in gold wash over silver. This one is all silver.
