Properly hallmarked by Margot de Taxco and bears this very rare design 5581A. It is fine line enamel and is 1 1/8th of an inch tall and further showing off a weight of 126 grams of silver. The diameter is 4.5 inches for sizing. There is no damage to the silver or enamel. I have never seen this flip of the silver on it's ends and it is absolutely beyond charming. Rare and magnificent Hector Aguilar 990 silver and obsidian bracelet. This same bracelet, but with malachite stones, is featured on page 24 of the book SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Morrill. They date is c. 1940. The round black cabachon stones appear at first glance to be onyx, however in certain light, the greenish, brownish irridescence of the stones can be seen ( see photo #5)and it is clear that they are indeed obsidian. This smashing bracelet is in fine original condition...

We are looking at a signed Los Castillo design # 472. The necklace is 1 1/8th inches tall and has a comfortable length of 17.5in. Because of the height of this piece the wearable length is 16.5in. I have never seen this link in the past and it is made with open backed repousse which was used in the beginnings of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. The weight is a hefty 86 grams and reflects the quality of this necklace. This necklace came to me with a natural, very dark patina...

This c. 1930's Spratling design measures 3 5/8" X 3 1/4" high & weighs 261 grams. Phyllis Goddard's description on spratlingsilver.com describes it in great detail ~ "Silver and copper circular powder box sits on a slightly domed base...decorated with bands of chased flat circles...set at a diagonal flanked by two incised lines. Each segment is separated by diagonal flat copper bands. The domed and tiered detachable lid is surmounted by a large silver ball...

Signed by Matilde Poulat and with one of her earliest Matl hallmarks, this necklace is one of the prettiest I have seen. The center drop is 6 in. across and 2.5in. tall with the dangles. The palomas are neatly tucked between larger stations inside the drop. You can hook into different lengths and it is 20in. long. This demi has been made with a thick silver base and has a weight of 64 grams heavy. There is a gorgeous natural patina with no damage of any kind to the stones or silver...

Good early Mexican Deco silver repousse jewelry is becoming harder to find - I don't know if it's because there weren't that many to begin with (quite often repoussage from that period seems a little clumsy, the technique needing additional experimenting with) or that at some point their popularity grew so much that they were "scooped up" from the market. Whatever the case, I am thrilled to be presenting this fantastic cuff bracelet with two saturated purple amethyst cabs here...

Margot de Taxco's des. no 5247 is a modernist "beaded wave" creation and presented here is a set comprised of bracelet and matching clip-on earrings. I will dare say that Margot did not delve too much into modernism but whenever she did it, the results were equally inspired and carefully crafted as the rest of her work. The sculptural quality of the undulating links is matched by the curves of the semi-spheres set within them in a channel that is both pierced and contained by a raised border...

Filipe Martinez was well known at being the best stone cutter laying the stone next to the silver with no space in between. This is an outstanding example of such. The obsidian is a turned on sheen so strong I photographed and different light levels to help you see it in an in person sort of way. The necklace is 16 inches long 1.25 inches tall as well as the bracelet and the earrings. The bracelet is 7in. long. There is a 216 gram combined weight. It is not often that one finds an Enrique Ledesma ring and this modernist beauty is made even more desirable by the big color-change sapphire that adorns it. The gem has a table-cut type of shape and mimicking the behavior of alexandrites, it changes color under different light conditions traveling from deep amethyst to steely purple. I love the highly stylized setting - to my eyes it reads like silver fingers holding on to the stone as it rests on a willing palm. Currently a sz 7 US (a jeweler ...
