Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga woodblock print by Tadashi Nakayama (1927-2014) titled “Butterfly Girl” dated 1977. The print is pencil-signed, dated, and numbered 37/85 in the bottom margin. Image size: 10 5/8”V x 9 ¼”H (paper size: 16 ½”V x 13 5/8”H). Red Nakayama seal verso. Very good overall condition with silver metallic pigments. There are two pieces of brown tape at the top edge verso and there is a very faint mat line barely evident...

These are worn with kimono and obi under Uchikake gown for the traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. There is a small area on the tissue holder and tanto bag with some power like stains. It is in new condition other than that. Great accent pieces for your home; two obi-jime (fat strings) can be used to tie the curtains, or use them with obis to create a wall décor. Be creative and have fun!

Majestic Black-tailed cranes soar over the crisp white-caps of Japans Northern waters on this expansive screen painted by 20th century artist Okada Renseki (1904-1995). The artist has given the mysterious creatures a dramatic sense of movement, rising ever upward across the expanse of shimmering sea. Very rarely seen, the magnificent birds have long held a special place of reverence in the hearts of the Japanese people, reflected in many centuries of art...

Silver designs are inlayed into the surface of this mid-century bronze by Honbo Keisen enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 29 cm (11-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition. It is signed in a silver cartouche on the base. Honbo Keisen (1910-1987) was born in Takaoka City, one of the main production centers of Bronze in Japan. Work by him is held in the Takaoka Municiap Museum.

This is a superb Bunraku puppet of the historical figure Minamoto Yoshitsune, one of the lead characters from the Tale of the Heikei and legendary fighter in Japan. The doll is incredibly mobile. Head moving up and down, his eyes open and close and move left to right. His eyebrows can be raised and lowered, and mouth opened or closed, all from toggles inside his kimono on the extended neck piece...

 

Oversized limited-edition Japanese "sosaku hanga" woodblock print by Tamami Shima (1937-1999) titled "April Forest." The bottom margin is pencil-signed, titled in kanji, dated 1962, and numbered 67/100. Paper: 22"V x 15 7/8"H (image: 19 7/8"V x 13 3/4"H). Very good overall condition. April Forest is written in pen verso (see enlargement 5). From a Scottsdale, AZ estate. Originally purchased from M. M. Shinno & Associates in Los Angeles.

A rare Japanese oversized limited edition "sosaku hanga" woodblock print titled "Black Cat, Three Kittens & Butterfly" dated 1967 by Tokuriki Tomikichiro (1902-2000). The artist's black seal is at the lower left and his black ink signature is at the lower right. The print is titled and dated in kanji in the upper right margin. Numbered 14/200 in the lower right margin in pencil. The paper measures 16"V x 21 3/8"H (image size: 15"V x 19 1/2"H). Very good overall condition...

An oil on canvas by Ono Sue titled “Inaka no Kyokai, Paris” or Rustic Church in Paris set into a double wood frame. The canvas is 15-1/2 x 18 inches (40 x 45 cm), the frame 24 x 27 inches (61 x 69 cm) and all is in excellent condition.
