A very naturalistic portrait of a high ranking official. Painted on silk. Apparently this scroll ended up in Japan at some stage, possibly after the Japanese occupation of Korea. The box was added in Japan. Dimensions: H. 92 cm, W. 50 cm. provenance: Dutch private collection.

A matching Edo period Myochin signed Go-mai-do Gusoku yoroi lacquered black and threaded with blue chord emblazoned with a seven star crest. It features a 24 plate suji kabuto with elaborate tehen kanamomo signed Myochin Ki Munemasa saku. The blossoming Shikoro features large back-turned Fukigaeshi and mabizashi covered in leather and also emblazoned with the seven star crest. Inserted in front is a sharp kuwa-gata maedate...

Famille rose plates with a rabbit in a grassy meadow surrounded by rocky cliffs, flowers and a bird perching high on a flowering branch looking down. All surrounded by a flowering prunis border against a brown scroll background. The back of the plate left bear. No mark.

Size is 8-7/8" diameter

Condition: This lot consists of 5 plates. Each plate is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips. Some very minor wear to the enamels.

Age: Yongzheng/Qianlong

A Chinese blanc de chine barrel shaped jar and cover the flattened circular lid with twin peach finial, the curving sides of the jar decorated with bands of raised dot designs at the rim and base, the sides otherwise decorated with hawthorn blossom sprays and twin lion head bosses.

Condition: Very good condition

Size: 15-1/2 cm high by 13-1/2 cm diameter

A lacquered and iron bound round lidded box called a kubi-oke made to carry the head of a man taken in battle or that of a man after committing ritual suicide for offering to the lord. It is 13 inches (33 cm) diameter, 11-1/2 inches (29 cm) tall with large handles from which it could be carried on a pole. There is mouse damage on one part of the bottom, but has not eaten through to the inside.

Chinese Qing dynasty wucai porcelain scalloped edge ritual bell with double-dragon form handle decorated with eight polychrome mythical beasts set against underglaze blue crashing waves on a white ground. Two narrow bands are at the top. The interior is a pale aqua color. The scalloped edge is unglazed. 6 3/4” high. 19th century. Fine quality restorations have been executed to an old hairline in the interior of the bell and to a small area of damage at the scalloped edge...

A very unusual Katana held in a saya (scabbard) made to look like a gnarled branch cut into a poor man’s cane. When pulled a spring-loaded mechanism releases two iron flanges creating a very effective tsuba hand guard. The blade is unsigned, measuring Nishaku nissun nibu {26-1/2 inches (67.3 cm)}. The remnants of a piece of paper remain glued to the saya with the name Masaaki Noma (?) written in cursive Roman letters, followed by UZUMASA, an area in Kyoto city...

The cover has a small loop with a center hole. The teapot has a "C" shaped handle with a gentle curving spout on the opposite side. The inside has been left unglazed with one square hole for the pouring spout.

The base is also unglazed and recessed...

Chinese plaque done in Qianjiang style with a crane flying over with a tree in the scene. There is a poem written in black ink in the upper left corner with a seal in iron red below it. The plaque has an overall orange-peel effect on the surface.

Condition is very good, no breaks or cracks. Some minor wear to the enamels

The size of the plaque is approximately 16-1/4" long by 10-1/2" wide

Brilliantly colored riders charge into rushing water on the gold leaves of this 18th century six panel screen relating the famous charge at the Battle of Uji Bridge. Tatsuna and Kagesue charge forward into the waters riding toward the enemy lined up on the opposite shore of the Uji River; the skeleton of the bridge visible in the back-ground. The screen measures 173 x 377 cm. (68 x 148-1/2 inches) each and retains the original Edo backing paper, with strong hinges and a good brocade border...

A cylindrical porcelain brush pot. The exterior painted in famille verte qianjiang enamels with an outdoor setting surrounded by mountains. A seal and several lines of calligraphy complete the brush pot. The base left blank.

Late Qing/Republican Period

Size is approximately 5-1/2" high

The six lobed body and cover of the box applied with a translucent pale blue glaze. The cover with incised decoration within each lobe, the center set with a 'stem' knop.

Age: Southern Song Dynasty (Circa 1127-1279)

Condition: Very good condition, no major breaks or chips. In one of the pictures, it shows that the cover and base do not sit properly. They actually do, but for that picture, the cover was not correctly rotated in it's correct position on the base.

Pear shaped body of ovoid section, supported on a flared foot covered in a deep imperial egg-yolk yellow glaze thinning midway down on the inside to where the balance is unglazed. The narrow sides of the neck flanked by a pair of dragon-head handles. The recessed base is glazed in the same deep yellow. The glaze stops short of the base...

The short flared rolled mouth over broad shoulders with the sides tapering to a rounded foot. The crackle consisting of golden thread and iron. The glaze is silky to the touch. The inside left unglazed as well as the base.

The base contains an older collection id number previous to my purchase.

There are no breaks. The vase has a few areas of glaze loss that occurred through the initial firing...

Originally this stick mand had wooden arms and silk clothing. These figures were only used for members of the imperial family and were forbidden for ordinary people. H. 58 cm. (60 cm. incl. stand). With TL-report from Ralf Kotalla.

Each vase with slightly flared mouths over extensive landscapes very well painted that depict a mountainside with figures, trees, pavilions and a meandering river...

A famille rose yellow ground minyao bowl with underglaze blue Daoguang sealmark and of the period. Decorated to the exterior in vibrant enamels with four exotic blossoms, including lotus, peony, hibiscus and orchid among scrolling foliage, all on a bright lemon yellow ground. The interior left blank.

A Chinese Ming longquan Zhejiang celadon censer. Robustly potted bombé sides, the exterior is decorated with a cross hatched pattern, the bowl standing on three feet.

Dated to Ming Dynasty - 16th century

Approximate size is 14 cm high by 28 cm diameter

Condition: In generally very good condition. No major breaks or chips. There are some very minor surface imperfections due to the use of the item, but nothing that detracts from it's beauty.
