Face coverings were worn for centuries by the women of various nomadic tribal groups of North Africa and the Middle East. This particular mask is from the Harb tribe of Hijaz region of Saudi Arabia. It was purchased by a collector living in the region during the 1960's.

These 6 barefoot maidens are elaborately costumed in traditional ethnographic clothing lots of bangles with bangles, and each is playing a different instrument. They stand approximately 8-9 inches tall. a few are missing a bangle and a few have very small dents in the metal work...metal is assumed to be very low grade silver tin combination. Decorative dolls such as these were made as a traditional folk art in India for a couple of centuries...

This rare teke turkomen pendant was originally worn as a necklace. This piece is studded with carnelians and decorated with gold wash aka "firegilded" detail. The pendant is 4 inches wide and 9.5 inches long.

A pair woman's festive leggings from Sana'a, Yemen. The upper part is brocade with boteh pattern in gold wrapped silk threads and the lower part with couched silver wrapped threads forming stars. This antique pair of Hand made leather are the old traditional shoes which were worn in Turkey. They were called Charoog...spelling may vary. The soles are concave and curl to a point in the front. The heels are very narrow. They are an interesting ethnographic item of a time long past. They measure 9 inches long

A pair of antique silver arm cuff bracelets worn by the women of the Turkmen Ersari tribe. From an old Swiss collection. Cf. Silver bowl and plate with intricate designs over the surfaces, the bowl with Islamic script. The plate measures 6 3/4" in diameter, and the bowl is 4 7/8" in diameter and 1 7/8" deep. Both pieces have traditional islamic and Persian designs, with cross designs, arabesque forms, and elaborate borders. Very precise and intricate silver work, the work of an accomplished silversmith. Persian Senneh kilim with a concentric lozenge medallion and herati pattern on a red ground. Woven in slit tapestry, warp in cotton and weft in wool. Beautiful colors. Condition: clean, fine, lower end minimally reduced. Dimension: 191 cm x 124 cm.

Rectangular composite panel of antique embroideries from the Ottoman Empire. The basic fabrics are different plain weaves, embroidered with silk and few metal wrapped threads, composed and sewn together in the Ottoman city of Salonika or Kavala. For similar example please refer to "Textiles of the Islamic World" by John Gillow: page 31 with illustration. Condition: allover good, occasionally little losses to embroidery. Bone grip and scabbard (parts missing) engraved with figures, animals and floral motifs, metallic mounts decorated with animals and floral motifs. A fine Persian cover of rectangular form. The center with crimson velvet, voided with flowers in lozenge shaped lattice, the woven silk edging with boteh pattern on blue. The reverse with printed cotton lining and eging in woven wool fabric.
