Description: A beautiful inkcake rest was intriguingly made of pudding stone. With agate-like stone quality, this precious scholar item was preserved very well with only some old crack lines and some minor old frets. The stand was an old Suan-Ji wood piece from 19th century. Of Janus form, with faces and bird beaks on opposing sides, this large food storage vessel is from the Chambri Lakes region, near the Sepik River in New Guinea. Formed of the local clay by the women, the decoration and paint was applied by the men, in honor of ancestral beings. Utilized to store the flour of the sago palm, the vessels were also used as currency in trading with other indigenous groups. A Cizhou ceramic pillow with an ivory colored glaze which continues to a little above the base. The center of the headrest is painted fluidly with a floral spray in a brown iron pigment while a loose band of three freely incised lines encircle the flower. The base is left unglazed. Period: Song (10th Century) Size: Width = 23.5 cm (9-1/4 inches) Condition: No chips, cracks or repairs. Some loss of the glaze on both top edges.

A good Japanese studio porcelain vase with decoration of egrets among lotuses. The egrets in no-outline, reverse out decoration against gradient blue background. The beaks and particularly the eyes (with yellow fill) picked out nicely in fine detail with black. The loti also with no outline and contrasting nicely against the fading blue. The foot with three iron spurs spaced evenly along the unglazed ring foot and an errant iron smudge near one under the glaze inside the foot...

Thai 13th - 15th Century Incised Stoneware Covered Box

This round box was made during the 13th - 15th century at the Sawankhalok kilns. Both cover and box have been decorated with an incised scrolling floral pattern, the design accentuated with the use of two different coloured glazes. The inner surface and base remain unglazed. Very unusually, to the base are incised lines: apart from the straight lines it appears there may be a picture incised although we cannot make out what it is...

A finely cast bronze priest's bell with a nice patina and sound, dating to the Late Central Javanese Period. The body resembling a stupa with floral ornaments and garlands. A very fine antique Japanese Ivory netsuke of a Buddhist monk and a Oni figure. Artist signed very fine intricate carving the Buddha has a gold pin third eye on his forehead. Measuring approx. 2 inches tall or 5 centimeters. Truly a masterfully carved piece.

Description: A Longquan celadon-glazed water pot was mold with a narrowed mouth, merged body and a well shaped foot ring. Yielded under the glaze with evenly spread crackles of iron wires all over the surface including the center of the foot ring, adding with the iron brownish foot ring, the small water pot was imitated to the Ge-typed wares of Song Dynasty in a charming look. The tint is much darken and greener in real than in the pictures...

Originally intended for a child's protection, this traditional Chinese silver lock necklace makes a very nice display piece and/or can be worn by an adult. The chain is 16 inches long and easily unhooks from either side. The "lock" is 2.5 inches wide x 1.25 inches high and 1 inch deep.

In straight shape and somehow penetrated and knarled holes, this wood scholar item was kept in very good condition with firm surface and greasy-feel quality.
It was firmly stand when in good weight despite the dehydrated look.
