Birds in white plumage decorate the shadowed raw clay of this vase by Miyagawa Kozan enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 21.5 cm (8-1/2 inches) tall, 19 cm (7-1/2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition.

Chinese Qing dynasty compressed globular form porcelain brush washer covered overall in a rich flambé glaze with a jun-like quality. The base is has an applied bronze wash and the foot rim is unglazed. The edge of the rim is bordered with a thin, geyao type crackled white glaze. Description: A porcelain snuff bottle was beautifully painted on the surface with insect of grasshopper in the weeds. On the other side, a well-rhythmed poem was finely written to depict the picture. Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 13.5". This example is of "Tougatta-kei" tradition, generally made in Miyagi Prefecture. But, this particular artisan, Ouhara Masakichi, lived in the city of Noboribetsu in Hokkaido. Ouhara-san was born in 1907 and passed away on June 8th, 1982 (Showa 57.) Description:

A Jizhou bowl was characteristically yielded on the surface with striking kiln effects(Yaobian).
Transparent and in flowing look, the glaze was suffused with mix tints of milky brown blue and white colours.
The bowl was finely mold in typical Wan form when flat bottom with shallow foot ring was supported underside.
Frets were found around the mouth rim and old crackles were rendered in the glaze due to age.

This is a Song dynasty (960 – 1276 A.D.) white glaze stem cup. It rest on a flared foot rising inwards to a short neck and then towards a everted u-shaped cup. It has a simple abstract cloud like wave motive between two bands of lines. On the underside, the white glaze flow stopped short at about half way down the stem exposing the light buff colour stoneware. A nice piece.

There is no repair or restoration. No chip or crack...
