Rare LARGE Chinese Song Dynasty Stoneware Granary Jar & Cover with Oxford TL Test

This very rare and unusual stoneware jar, complete with its original elaborate cover, was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). Description:

A Longquan bird-feeder was in lovely size and was in shape of a lotus bud.
In favorite lake-green tint, the vessel was revealed at the bottom with rough-feel body clay.
It was preserved in very good condition with limited glaze frets happened during manufacturing or under incursions.
It was a rare piece from which some similar ones were in the collection of the Palace Museum of Beijing(see last two photos).

Southern Song/Yuan periods, 11th-13th century...

A front Mandarin square dating from the second half of the 19th century. An insignia for an imperial censor, showing the white mythical beast "xiezahi" or "xiezhi" with its dragon head and single horn. Standing on a rock above deep water, the ground with auspicious emblems. Made of silk tapestry (kossu, k'o-suu) with metallic threads and painted details. The background was probably covered by peacock feathers, rarely survived to the present days. Sewn together and lined with blue silk...

Fine cracled celadon bowl with lotus petal carved on exterior, greyish green glazed to foot rims, unglazed base. Width = 10.3 cm, Height=5 cm. Song Dynasty 10th-13th Century. Condition: Excellent, no hairline, chip or restoration.

Description: A black bowl from 12th Century was well molded and glazed uniquely. Applied in mottles with brown glaze on the interior and exterior against the black glaze, abstract firing effects was yielded with charming purplish blue when amid with brownish tint. Minute pinpoints incursions were spread dispersedly on the surface reflecting the dirt-like foggy hue(see pictures 9, 10, 11), and makes the mottles like different halos...

A beautiful and rare blackwood vanity chest. This is an unique piece and very large and quite heavy. It has all the original brass fittings and many drawers. There are many copies of this piece and this is the only original one I have come by in all the years I have been collecting. Age: Early 19th century. Size: L. 35cm. W. 25.8cm. H. 21cm. A beautifully embroidered and tassled multi colored cloth from the hilltribes of Southern China. Age: 1930's. Size: L 54cm. W. 27cm. Condition: Very good. No repairs.

A Song longquan guan type celadon large bowl, rounded side with deep center and glazed base, bowl decorated with raising lotus petal motif at exterior, covered with bluish green glaze. PERIOD : Southern Song 南宋 (1127–1279) SIZE: 20 cm diameter 9 cm height. CONDITION : restored to the broken part

Deep rounded form with steeps side and slight indentation belom the everted rim, covered in lustrous caramel-brown glaze streaked with black element emanating from the central flattened base of the interior, the glaze thinning to a dark brown colour at the upper end, the exterior similarly decorated the glaze falling short of the foort with sumptuous globules dripping over the body burnt a brown in the firing...

A nice Tibetan 108 bone prayer beads with two leather counters from Lhasa. The bone is most likely yak bone. It has two turquoise spacers and silver counter. Acquired in Lhasa, Tibet over 15 years ago. Size: 40cm X 2.

Large celadon bowl decorated with floral scroll on the body and key fret scroll to rim and foot rim, and flower on the center. W = 22.5 cm, H=10.5 cm. Qianlong 1736-1795. Condition : very good with minor frit on the rim.

A large basin in striking cobalt designs by Miyagawa (Makuzu) Kozan enclosed in an unsigned wooden box. The central figure is a soaring phoenix spiral n elaborate plumage surrounded by clam shaped scallops in which leaping carp vie for the prize. About the rim 3 dragons battle for the flaming pearl. Outside serpentine vines intertwine about voluptuous flowers over phoenix. All together a sumptuous and royal aura. It is roughly 32 cm (12-1/2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition...

Description: A white jade belt buckle was decorated with motifs of lion head mask and lotus tendrils. In pure nephrite quality, the bas-relief's carvings was fluent and vivid. Preserved in perfect condition, this jade buckle can be ideally used as an attractive pendant. Date: Qing Dynasty (late 18th Century) Length: 5.1 Width: 3.5cm Depth: 1.7cm

 

Chinese Qing dynasty compressed globular form porcelain brush washer covered overall in a rich flambé glaze with a jun-like quality. The base is has an applied bronze wash and the foot rim is unglazed. The edge of the rim is bordered with a thin, geyao type crackled white glaze. There is an old collector’s tag on the base. 19th century. 4 1/8” diameter by 1 1/4” high. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
