Chinese Northern Qi Dynasty Painted Pottery Figure (AD 550 - 577)

This rare and unusual painted pottery figure was made during the Northern Qi Dynasty (AD 550 - 577). It is made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments, very good traces of which still remain. Note the details of the clothing, the headgear, both tied with a bow, and the facial features...

Cup with everted flat lip and a short raised foot. Decorated in underglaze cobalt - blue on the rim with a key - fret design and a continuous chrysanthemum scroll on the exterior. Porcelain body with a transparent glaze. Base recessed and unglazed. D : 8 cm. Jingdezhen or Fujian. Yuan Dynasty fourteenth century...

Decorated with red pigments. H. 8,5 cm. Condition: excellent. China, Tang Dynasty (618-906).

Golden mist shrouds the aged pines draped with wisteria growing about the crashing falls on this anonymous early Edo period gold screen. A rare scene to find, rigid lines and the lavish use of gold are typical of the first half of the Edo era. The screen features a colorful brocade border with vermilion lacquer frame and has been fully remounted without re-painting. It measures 68-1/2 x 63-1/2 inches (174 x 162 cm) and is in fine condition, showing some old repairs.

A jade of a chimera (mythical animal. The light grey-green nephrite jade has areas and spots of beige and dark brown natural that are to the stone. The animal is tilting its head to the left and is open-mouthed showing it's teeth and curled tongue. Period: Late Ming, Early Ching (17th/18th Century) Size: H = 3-1/2", Length = 5-3/4"

An octagonal wooden box with hinged lid, the interior with original pewter tea caddy, original key. Finely painted in two different gold tones showing scenes with figurines in courtyards, on a black lacquered ground. Condition: fine quite pristine, few traces of usage, the lock seems not to work. Dimension: 17.3 x 12.1 x 10.3 cm, weight: 740 g.

Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 4.25". This is an example of the "Yajiro-kei" tradition of Miyagi Prefecture. The artisan is Niiyama Manabu, who was born on October 13th, 1930 (Showa 5). It is not dated, but was most likely made within the past 20 years. Chinese Song / Yuan / Early Ming Dynasty Longquan Celadon Dragon Jar

This "heavily-potted" small jar was made during the 13th / 14th century at the Longquan kilns, Zhejiang province. It has been made in two moulded sections, upper and lower, that were luted together prior to glazing. The upper part is decorated with a four-clawed dragon and the lower part with cloud and wave patterns...

Description: A burl wood trunk was intriguingly made to be a nice tea leaves’ holder which was in full Zen spirits. Being set with tin barrel in the middle and framed on top and at the bottom with the same material, the tea caddy was in a sturdy condition and was ready for use any time. Nice patina was in the wood when the tin’s surface was well cleaned. Date: Qing Dynasty(19th century), Height: 13.2cm, Width: 11.9cm.

Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Twin Fish Dish (Ex. Lammers Collection)

This dish, or shallow bowl, was made during the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1127 – 1279). It has a moulded decoration featuring, in its centre, two fish swimming amongst waves. The two fish are an emblem of harmony and a happy marriage. The bowl is coated in a pale greenish Qingbai type of glaze...

A wonderful example of funerary gifts, these pottery horses with glazed and cold painted decoration. The heads are detachable. Both horses are in excellent condition without traces of repair. Hight 30 cm. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Description: An adorned wood female lion was carved in Ming dynasty. Stepping on a cup who lies upward, this lion grinned fiercely. She should had been paired with a male lion who stepping on a scroll ball and all were placed before a shrine as guarding beasts. It is an exact example of Ming lion and of an 400 years old wood piece for dating. Material: Camphor Wood. Date: Ming Dynasty (15th Century) Condition: Good with left paint and obvious crackles due to age. Height: 13cm

Description: An Archaic bronze seal with a casting knob of a couple (means harmony) was from Song dynasty. The meaningful knob was accompanied with the joyful inscription of A rabbit motif. A scholar item was probably used in Chinese studio for making stamp inscription on a script of poem or a beautiful painting. Date: Song Dynasty(AD960-1279) Width: 2.2cm Height: 2.2cm
