Chinese Qing dynasty porcelain dish decorated in the doucai style with a central roundel holding an underglaze blue five-clawed dragon among clouds surrounded by a famille rose enamel butterfly among five clusters of leafy stems holding three peaches each. A geometric blue band extends around the inner rim. The outer edge holds three famille rose enameled floral sprays. A six-character blue kaishu form Guangxu mark (1875-1908) is on the base. Cranes flock to the shore, greeted by their compatriots grazing among dry winter grasses on the wave lapped beach of this anonymous pair of Mid Edo period six panel screens. Performed with Ink and pigment on paper with scattered gold flake in a blue silk border with kuwa (mulberry) wood frame and sturdy blue cloth backing. Fully remounted, each screen is 65 x 142 inches (165 x 361 cm). A quintessential Kano style Edo period scene.

Description: A blue-glazed tea bowl from Jun kiln was well mold in a decent look. Being applied with light bluish glaze all over the surface only stop nearing to the foot ring, the bowl was decorated characteristically by some splashes of purple glaze in the cavetto and on the outer surface. Subtly rendered under firing in the kiln, the charming glaze effects were harmonized to the blue glaze by the crackled and fish-scales like condition...

Interior center with a Peony blossom and continuously lotus scroll on the wall cavetto below diaper pattern around the rim. Six character 'Da Ming Xuan De Nien Zhe' within double circle to the base, but later product in Zhengde period (1506-1521)...

Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Crackle-Glazed Dish (32.5 cm)

This large blue & white "Swatow" (or "Zhangzhou") porcelain dish was made in the 16th / 17th century, most likely during the Wanli Reign (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty. It is "heavily-potted" and coated in a heavily-crackled glaze. The upper surface is decorated in underglaze blue with peonies within thin blue bands. The underside is simply decorated with circular blue bands...

A rare yari-no-saya of course bristles blossoming tuft-like from a 7 inch black lacquered wooden sheath bound with strips of bamboo resting on a four legged hardwood stand. The Edo period piece is in excellent condition, with only minor damage to the wooden ring about the bottom of the tuft. It is made to take a spear head over 8 inches long.

A nice covered celadon jar, covered overall with smooth blue green glaze. Unglazed base. 14th century. Longquan Kilns, Zhejiang. Condition : chip on the rim with star crack on the body and cover. Dimension : High: 12.5 cm, Diameter 13 cm.

A ceramic cover for a tea room brazier in the shape of a devil dressed in priests robes dated and annotated within. Dating from the Ansei era, inside it is annotated by Daiko Sogen (1772-1860), 435th head of Daitokuji. Well known for his poetry and mastery of the Tea Ceremony, he taught Zen to Eiraku Hozen, and was compatriot to Gengensai. It is 34.5 x 34.5 x 30 cm (13-1/2 x 13-1/2 x 12 inches) and is in fine condition.

Description:

A peach-bloom glazed water basin was in nice shape.
Well glazed in gradient tints, the basin was revealed with finely-grained body clay at the foot ring when darken firing effects was resulted within.
It was used for some time. Crackled wires were yielded inside the basin.

A celadon bottle vase, carved on the body with floral sprays, the neck with vertical lines, flanked by a pair of handles moulded in the form of dragon head and rings. Dating Early Ming 14th century Longquan ware. A pair of ring is crack and restored, further in good condition. High: 25 cm.

A very unusual Katana held in a saya (scabbard) made to look like a gnarled branch cut into a poor man’s cane. When pulled a spring-loaded mechanism releases two iron flanges creating a very effective tsuba hand guard. The blade is unsigned, measuring Nishaku nissun nibu {26-1/2 inches (67.3 cm)}. The remnants of a piece of paper remain glued to the saya with the name Masaaki Noma (?) written in cursive Roman letters, followed by UZUMASA, an area in Kyoto city...

19th Century Japanese Wood Netsuke Shoki Carrying Sword & Oni Signed

The netsuke is 1.3 inches tall, and 1.25 inches wide.

It is in good condition with no chips, nor cracks, except shoki's foot has been repaired (glued back) - as seen in the photos, and a small chip at the oni's thumb.
