Chinese Northern Song Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Bowl in Kiln Saggar

A rare opportunity to acquire a Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1127) kiln saggar still containing its Qingbai porcelain bowl, excavated from a kiln site in the Jingdezhen area of Jiangxi province. This is one of a variety of different Qingbai porcelain wares in saggars, mostly bowls and dishes of varying sizes and patterns, that we were very lucky to be able to acquire some time ago and now offer for sale.

Thick green glazed with good green glaze. Unglaze concave base. Height = 6.5 cm Width = 7.5 cm. Yuan Dynasty 14th Century. Condition : Excellent : no hairline, chip or restoration.

Description:

A Zitan brush-licker was in vibrant form.
By traditional designs on the patterns of the sea waves, this wood scholar dish was surrounded on the rim with scrolling water.
Purplish oxidation was happened to the surface when grayish deposition was found within the crevices.

Date: Qing Dynasty, 19th Century.

Description: A beautiful ivory sachet was carved in open work. With archaic patterns as the ground decoration, swirling dragons were carved vividly on both sides. The sachet can be used as a pendant when the cap was removable and a perfume dipped cotton can be easily put into it. Date: Early 20th Century.

Very strong and well carved wooden mask. Japan, 19th/early 20th century. H. 22 cm (34 cm including custom made stand). Good wear and patina, some missing parts to the horns.

A Longquan Li-typed censer was in fine crackled glaze which in imitating the favourable Guan wares.
In tripod form, the Longquan censer was preserved in perfect condition when icy wires were spread immensely.
The incursions were happened to the thinner portions of the glaze and on the ridges.
The body clay revealed was in grayish white tint which was a characteristic of Song Dynasty...

Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 6.5". This is an example of "Naruko-kei" tradition of Miyagi Prefecture. The artisan is Oonuma Hideo, who was born on february 17th, 1930 (Showa 5.) Description:

A Jizhou tea bowl was applied with dark brown nearing black glaze on the surface.
Uniquely and characteristically, a leaf motif was decorated on the surface.
By greasy-feel quality of the characteristic Jizhou glaze, the surface was covered with slight burial adhesives when subtle crackles were rendered in the glaze underneath.
By also convincing look of the body clay which revealed at the bottom in soft quality, the foot ring was surrounded by shallow wall...

A gold tree laden with peaches accompanied by a poem drapes over the sides of this large porcelain bowl made by Miura Chikusen and decorated by Hashimoto Kansetsu enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 7-1/2 inches (19 cm) diameter, 3-3/4 inches (9.5 cm) tall and in fine condition...

Large Old (1940's) Chinese Wood Carved Quan Yin

The quan yin is 17 inches tall without base, and 6.5 inches wide.

It is in good condition with no repairs, except a chip at the edge of her robe and cracks (as seen in the photos).

A pair of iron Tibetan Phurbu Daggers. The top of the handles have four expressive faces of very good workmanship crowned with human skulls.The handle has a double lotus and eternal knots on each end.Above the blades there is a makara. Size: L. 21.7cm each. Condition: No repairs. Nice patina

A full 7 piece Steeped Tea Sencha Tea Set by Kiyomizu Rokubei enclosed in the original age darkened wooden box titled Seika Sansui Chaki. There are five cups, a teapot with lid, and a cooling dish. Each piece is decorated with a unique scene and poem, no two are alike. They show the mastery of brushwork this important potter, originally trained as a painter, possessed. The cups are 8 cm (3-1/4 inches) diameter and all is in excellent condition...

Covered with crackled green celadon to the foot ring, unglazed base. Diameter = 10.2 cm Song Dynasty. Condition : restoration to a small fritting, no cracks or lines.

A beautifully written tea room scroll by 19th century calligraphist and seer/soothsayer Yokoyama Marumitsu (1780-1854) bordered in pale green brocade and featuring bone rollers. The calligraphy is very expressive, dark lines varying dramatically in width as they curl down the wide sheet. The signature line reads A 72 year old man Kiosanjin Marumitsu making the scroll date to 1851 by Japanese age count(Kiosanjin was one of his many literary names)...

A very rare find indeed, two early to mid Edo period matching Kashi-gusoku Yoroi from the same armory featuring Momonari Kabuto and Hotoke-Ni-Mai Do decorated with jagged bands of gold. A very impressive set. The sleeves are patterned blue and white hemp. The thumb on one sleeve is missing and the two hinge pins...

Vase with tall cylindrical neck on a pumpkin-like lobed body, sparsely decorated with sample chrysantemum springs, sample spirals, plum blossoms and crapemyrtle scroll, all below plantain leaves. PERIOD : Yuan Dynasty, 1279 - 1368 AD,. MEASUREMENTS: 19 cm height. CONDITION: Reattached broken item.
