A beautifully potted octagonal Jun-Yao bowl from the Song Dynasty (960 – 1276). The colour of the bowl is more to the purplish side than blue hue that is shown in the picture. This is due to the light reflection that throws out the blue colour. The foot stand is burnt to light russet brown in colour with a small chip.

Some minor abrasion. A single chip to the stand of the bowl (Picture 6). There are no crack, restoration or repair...

A misshapen bowl excavated and assembled from several pieces using the kintsugi gold technique. Originally a kiln flaw, it was likely destroyed after creation, later to be excavated and assembled as was popular in the later Edo period. Misshapen,and with a large kutsuki on one side, it is 4 x 5 x 3 inches (10 x 12.5 x 8 cm) and comes in a wooden box.

The is a rare, old, long Chinese lock necklace with coral beads and matching amber drops. The handmade upper chain leads to a lower strand of very small silver beads, with 4 pumpkin shaped coral beads alternating with 5 silver balls on each side. From each side of the beaded chain is a short chain ending with male and female ducks which represent a long and happy marriage. This saddle has ornate silver and cloisonne detailing. The basic wood saddle tree is covered with leather and the edges are rimmed with strips of silver metal with colorful floral enameling. Addition large flat buttons of silver and cloisonne are sewn to the leg flaps and are also used on the saddle seat to keep the original Tibetan rug saddle pad in place.

Saddle comes with custom made stand.

A very rare wood panel, covered with a white ground and decorated with a painting of a bodhisattva. This panel was found in a cave temple in the Dunhuang mountains in the Gansu Province. We acquired a group of six panels from a Dutch collector who bought the panels in China in the 1980's. Dimensions: 46x20 cm. Tang Dynasty (618-906).Wooden objects from this period are quite rare.

Description:

A black-glazed covered box was molded with an interesting motif of butterfly on the surface.
The box was an excavated piece obtaining with obvious evidences of burial earth and whitish incursions in the glaze.
Some similar boxes were in the book of (The Collection of Chinese Box), a book of a famed connoisseur and antique dealer,Ma Wei-Du.
