Manchu women never practiced foot-binding. However, during the Qing dynasty, they did wear pedestal aka platform shoes, hoping to give the appearance of smaller feet. The tips of the shoes would appear to peak out from under the robes, giving the foot more dainty appearance.

The neck incised with interlaced split palmettes in cartouches and a roundel with calligraphic inscription. The body with lobed roundels and semicircles containing vegetal motifs. Dimension: diameter: 34.5 cm, 16.8 cm high, weight: 2.7 kg. Condition: traces of usage, body with small dents.

A very rare and beautiful Pyu agate carved bird. A hole is drilled from the top of the head to the bottom of the bird so it can be worn as a pendant. The bird is still the symbol for Burma. Size: L. 3cm.

Measuring 3" x 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" high, this silver box is nicely stamped with traditional navajo designs. It sits on four feet, which appear to be bead halves, and has a clasp on front that secures the lid. Unmarked, which is typical of older works, likely from the trading post era, with Fred Harvey being one of the primary venues for the sale of hand made Navajo silver and other works.
