A complete old Tibetan ladies purse made of Yak leather and inlaid with silver and gilt carvings with a center piece of Turquoise. The front has carvings of two fish (representing the beginning of life)and flower design. The back has a center tree design. There is a silver woven chain attached to the top for carrying. Remnants of yellow glaze covers this Heishi (Heiji) bottle form from the Owari-Seto area engraved clearly about the neck with three lines. A quintessential Kamakura pot. There is much degradation to the glaze typical of Seto which has withstood a millennium of earthquake, fire, war and abuse. That anything survives so long in Japan is miraculous. It is 9-1/2 inches (24 cm) tall, 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) diameter and comes wrapped in old cloth in an old wooden box.

Description: A cute stone tiger of Song Dynasty was carved with a red sandstone which was revealed under the old black paint from the frets on the tip of her nose. The black paint was applied all over the surface except the bottom of the stand. The evenly spread crackle paint was meaningful to this lovely stone cat for her 800 years of enduring age. An Edo Period Kozuka (utility knife handle.) Kinko (mixed soft metals) decoration on shakudo alloy with nanako (fish roe textured) background. Depicted in a farmer with horse in water plowing in prepartion to plant rice. A willow or other weeping tree, to one side, not yet with blooms. Nicely detailed with featured highlighted with gold and silver overlay. The water nicely textures with an itame (wood grain) effect. Serviceable, fair to good condition...

These jars have measure heght from 5 cm to 6.5 cm. Condition : Six lobed jar has some frits on the botttom and body. The others are perfect condition.

An exquisite Murashi-Do Bronze vase signed Shuho and enclosed in the original wooden box. The baluster form is interrupted by three ribs starting at the shoulder and running partially down the sides. The vase is otherwise entirely undecorated, leaving all impression to shape alone. A fantastic piece, it is 12 inches (30 cm) tall, 7-1/2 inches (19 cm) diameter and in fine condition. It dates circa the first quarter of the 20th century.

Description: A porcelain snuff bottle was beautifully painted on the surface with insect of grasshopper in the weeds. On the other side, a well-rhythmed poem was finely written to depict the picture. It was in perfect condition with original dipper on top. An inscription mark Qian-Long-Nien-Zi was at the bottom. Date: Qing Dynasty(19th century). Height: 7.9cm.

A nicely carved brown jade fish in the Eastern Zhou style. The fish is symbolically employed as the emblem of wealth or abundance on account of the similarity in the pronunciation of the words "yu", fish, and "yu", superfluity. I date this piece to be early Han. Size: L.5.5cm. W.2cm. Condition: No repairs ,chips or cracks.

A translucent nephrite jade "bi" of a very light cream color (off-white). Both the front and reverse are beautifully carved with the same design of a variety of "curl" designs. Rare Chinese Early Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Figure (AD 618 - 906)

This rare and interesting pottery figure was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a grey pottery that is solid (as opposed to being hollow as are the majority of Tang figures) and relatively highly-fired. It has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments. The figure represents a soldier, or possibly a guard, who is standing to attention with his left hand held out...

A lacquered and iron bound round lidded box called a kubi-oke made to carry the head of a man taken in battle or that of a man after committing ritual suicide for offering to the lord. It is 13 inches (33 cm) diameter, 11-1/2 inches (29 cm) tall with large handles from which it could be carried on a pole. There is mouse damage on one part of the bottom, but has not eaten through to the inside.

An interesting eskimo miniature canoo, made of wood, seal skin and bone. The figure is wearing cotton clothes. Age: early 20th century. L. 50cm, H. 9 cm. Condition: Expected age wear, several cracks in the seal skin, peddle is missing.

Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Kraak Porcelain Dish (20.5cm / 8")

This highly decorative and attractive "Kraak" porcelain dish was made at the Jingdezhen kilns during the Wanli reign (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty. The pattern, in underglaze blue of good colour, features in its centre a winged insect amongst various plants and blossoms. Surrounding this are eight roundels containing, alternately, peach blossoms and precious objects...

Elaborate large head ornament featuring pumpkins, a butterfly and a cicada moth. Made of metal and cardboard covered with two shades of kingfisher feathers and red and green enamel. Condition: few losses of feathers. Dimension: 18 cm wide, 17 cm high.

A very unusual hammer textured lotus shaped tray featuring an insect crawling down the side enclosed in a wooden box titled Textured Leaf Shape Fruit Dish and signed Tekisui Zo (made by Tekisui). The brass basin is supported by a withering round stem convoluting beneath. A bright portion of brass hammered out with holes show the leaf slowly deteriorating, returning to earth. Description: A rare excavation piece of a jadeite snuff bottle was in beautiful greenish tint and with obvious incursions. Even with un-satisfactory cracks which was due to long time of burial, the snuff bottle was in stable condition and the hollowing craftsmanship was quite good. An adequate black steatite cap was newly paired but more work was needed to add the dipper on. Date: Qing Dynasty (18th century) Dimension: 4.9cm x 3.8cm 1.5cm

A very rare wood panel, covered with a white ground and decorated with a painting of a bodhisattva. This panel was found in a cave temple in the Dunhuang mountains in the Gansu Province. We acquired a group of six panels from a Dutch collector who bought the panels in China in the 1980's. Dimensions: 46x20 cm. Tang Dynasty (618-906).Wooden objects from this period are quite rare.

This small intricately carved stone shoes were probably given as a gift of well wishing. 3 inches in length, they were carved from unidentified soft stone, not hard jade. There are numerous cracks and chips from age, but the shoes retain their original carving detail.
