Description: It is a gilt-silver hat finial of an official of Qing dynasty. In Qing dynasty, the official uniform was strictly regulated including the hat decoration. Hat finial was categorized formally from Younzhen reign(17th century) as 9 classes. Gold tip(gilt) the sixth category were used by officials like county administrators. This tip was decorated with three bats (means well-being in Chinese pronunciation) amid swirling cloud and ru-yi motifs in open work surrounding the golden ball...

Japanese TAISHO Period carved wooden RANMA of dragon. The dragon is beautifully carved in high relief and with great detail. The back of the RANMA is also carved and has a rectangular placard with the inscription: TOKYO SHINTOMI-CHO, CHOUKOKU NIN, TAISHO SAN NEN NI GATSU, GOTO SUKEYOSHI, which translated means, Shintomi Town of Tokyo, presently the Ginza area of Tokyo, February of the 3rd year of Taisho (1915), carved by Goto, Sukeyoshi. The RANMA measures about 79" long, 12" tall and 6" thick.

At first glance this appears to simply be a large image of a burning tree, however, look again and find the tree like figure is in the from of two entwined lovers, flames leaping from their impassioned bodies. This was likely made as an exhibition work, as it certainly would be difficult to fit into even a large Japanese home. The piece is signed Yoneda Mio, (Yoneda Mionosuke), and likely dates from the 1930s...

A Victorian Good Luck sterling horseshoe pin circa 1880s. This vintage Victorian piece of sterling silver sporting jewellery measures 1" x 1-1/8", it closes with a c-clasp and it is of typical late 19th century hollow construction and it has a finely detailed relief design on the front. It is unmarked, not uncommon on Victorian pieces of this period, but it tests as sterling grade silver...

Measuring 4 3/4 inches high, this pre-World War II, Austrian-made, metal ashtray features a very intriguing, slouching, black nodder figure smoking a cigar!

In wonderful, working condition, the black man's head is attached to his body via the original, flexible, metal rod which allows the head to bob back and forth when jiggled.

Marked on the base of the ashtray "Made in Austria". Paint loss as seen in photos with no repairs or repainting!

An interesting character!

A rare and spectacular mid-century modern sterling pin by Carmen Beckmann. The center features 2 Mexican jelly opals and green stones that I believe are tourmaline. The stones are bezel set and the color combination is striking. The irregular shapes of the green stones and the varied lengths of the jutting silver spokes make this design fascinating. It is unique down to the clasp which is a simple "C" clasp with an interlocking safety catch that slides up to hold the pin securely in place...

Offered for sale is a rare, 19th century, apothecary, pharmacy hanging show globe that is dated 1891 on the inside of the collar. This hand-blown glass globe sports an interior that is painted red! This is a feature I have never before seen, and this globe may have been so colored as a "special option" for its original owner.

The chains belonging to this 21" tall showglobe do not have the original central hook attachment...

106 graduated cultured pearls measuring from 3 mm to 6 3/4 mm make up this 19" long strand that's been capped off with a delicate silver clasp. The strand is newly restrung and dates from the 1950's or 60's. The pearls are well-matched and have a luminous luster.
