When carefully examined, the shaped body of this antique ceremonial Tibetan snuff container appears to be animal horn. Decorated with silver and bronze fittings, coral, turquoise and agate beads, this snuff bottle or more accurately, snuff container would have been worn suspended from a chain as a costume ornament by a shaman. It was purchased in Kunming from a Tibetan woman who was there selling her family treasures...

A vermilion Negoro lacquered tray with fluted corners on an elongated stem with heavy round foot in black lacquer dating from the Muromachi period with the temple name Zentoku-in written in red on the base. It is 27 x 27.5 x 25 cm tall (10-1/2 x 10-3/4 x 10 inches). Originally undoubtedly square, the discrepancy in width is due to shrinkage against the grain over the centuries. Tibetan butterfly-shaped woolen under-saddle rug "Makden", made in two pieces in knotted pile. Backed with purple cotton, edged with red wool fabric and having two not pierced strap holes. Decorated with peony flowers and waves. Condition: clean, full pile only few areas with little wear, backing with a small hole. Dimension: 112 cm x 72 cm.
Vintage sterling silver pin or brooch designed and signed c.1930-40's by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling(1900-67). Pin measures 3 1/8" X 1 1/8". Description: A scholar bronze water basin was in lovely pumpkin shape. Covered with typical old patina on the surface and left pigment between the lobes, the item was kept in very good condition except some minor dents which was not unusual to an old piece.
One later made dip was accompanied with this piece as a perfect match. Date: 18th/19th Century. Width: 5.3cm, Weight: 51gram.
In mint condition, only light age wear to the decoration. Diameter 24,5 cm, H. 13 cm.
