This pair of handmade woman's shoes were made with cotton vamp and satin stitched embroidered flower motif. The exaggerated upturned front toe was used as a decorative element by several minority groups but from the detailing, I think that they are most likely Miao ethnic minority. They are small and narrow, and probably belonged to a young girl. The Miao, like most minorities, did not practice foot binding. The walking sole measures 6.5 inches long and 2" at the widest part.

There are few roads in New Guinea, with the rivers being used as transportation arteries. The various indigenous groups living along the Sepik River of New Guinea make canoes made from hollowed logs and the prows were often carved in the form of crocodiles. Many of the tribes or villages can be recognized by the style of the croc prow of the canoe. This croc head is the remains of an old canoe prow from the mid region of the Sepik river. It is unusually finely carved and nicely detailed...

Beautiful antique high relief lava cameo bracelet in 9KT gold with six cameos, two on each end in creamy greens, tans, and gray, and one black and one white cameo in the center. Circa 1900. The scabbard has a wooden core encased in a silver sheathing, decorated with foliage, scrolls and shou characters. Condition: Blade with some rust. Dimensions: Total length is 34.9 cm, 4.2 cm wide. Description: A wonderful Jun bowl was with purple splashes in the cavetto in strong form. Molded in quite good size of 15.8cm in width, the bowl was applied with characteristic sky-blue glaze inside and out of the surface only stop short of the foot ring. While was shaped in sleek skill, the steep and unglazed foot ring was cut to a domed shape on the bottom and was slanted outward forming a good angle as a firm support. The molding scars were left obviously at the center of the foot ring...
