This traditional Han child's silk hat is wonderfully embroidered with floral scenes around the brim, butterflies and birds around the sections of the crown, while tassels accentuate the upturned morterboard. The long draped wind protector section at the back shows fade line...otherwise the hat is in excellant condition.

You can’t get lost with this very unique fob/pendant in the shape of a compass, from the early 20th century. Alternating oval and round heavy gauge chain-links form the frame around the actual working double sided compass. The width of the pendant is 1” and the height is 1 3/8”.

A superb 19th century hanging moon Vase of caramel bronze gilded inside entrrely with gold and enclosed in a custom kiri-wood period box titled Kara-kin Gekkei Hanaire (gilded Chinese-Bronze Vase). In this case the word Chinese does not indicate it being manufactured in China, but using a mixture of bronze based on Chinese origins. An English silver plated swing handle bread or fruit basket with a cutout pierced gallery. This attractive, high quality table accessory measures 10-1/2 x 8-1/8" across and the handle rises to 8-1/2" high. It has a pierced or openwork gallery and what appears to be shamrock cutouts. It is stamped with CJA EPNS MADE IN ENGLAND and the maker is Charles James Allen (1898~1912)...

A large Kiji porcelain vase with florals (stylized millet?) in raised relief by Miyanaga Tozan enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The architecture and infinite care shown in the carving on the surface proves this to be a superb piece deserving of the name of one of Kyotos top porcelain artists. The vase is 10-1/2 inches (27 cm) tall, 11-1/2 inches (30 cm) diameter and in excellent condition. Miyanaga Tozan I (1868-1941) is one of the most important names in Kyoto ceramics...

A pair of Kinsai Tokkuri on red ground by Eiraku Zengoro from his Kutani kiln dating from the late 19th or early 20th centuries enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Complete with lids, they are 5 inches (13 cm) tall each and in excellent condition.

A cylindrical porcelain brush pot. The exterior painted in famille verte qianjiang enamels with an outdoor setting surrounded by mountains. A seal and several lines of calligraphy complete the brush pot. The base left blank.

A 10k yellow gold lapis lazuli cabochon ring from the 1910-20 era. This size 7 ring features a cabochon 57 point (calculated) deep blue stone bezel-set in a late Edwardian-early Art Deco 7/16 x 1/4" setting. The shoulders are hand tooled, this ring weighs 1.9 grams and it is stamped 10K with a maker's mark. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs...

A beautiful and deeply curved bamboo brush pot holder with a beautiful scene from the story of Lu Pu and the Beauty during the Three Kingdom period in a single cartouche.

Something I have never seen before, a set of pillows for one couple from Shimabara, one of the oldest pleasure districts of Kyoto, enclosed in the original Kiri-wood storage box. The man’s pillow is a simple roundel of soft leather. The woman’s, made for a geisha and her elaborate coiffure, is a small tapering black lacquered box with a drawer for a hair pin, to the top of which is secured a brocade pillow with a silk chord...

This purse would have had a shoulder strap attached and would have been used by an adult female of the Chinese Yi ethnic minority group. All hand stitched with cross stitching embroidery and other techniques, hand made cording (string) knotted across the bottom. The bag is lined with home spun had woven fabric made from "fireweed" plant. Back is unadorned.
