This is a gorgeous Fred Davis collar necklace constructed in the technique of backed repousse. Most of this magnitude are flat cut silver sheet. The silver content is a minimum of 925 but in this work it is higher. The color is the luxurious white that we love in the Mexican Silver Renaissance. The size is generous which is also rare and does fit on an angle.
No splits or repairs just the usual scratches only seen with magnification on a 70 year plus silver necklace...

Very fine Hupa or Yurok basketry cap, in rows and bands of varied colors, tightly woven, in very good condition, early 20th century.
Measures 7 3/4" x 7", the opening is roughly 6 7/8" 5 5/8". Note that the cap is slightly oblong, and the measurements are how it sits, could measure otherwise if opening stretched a bit.
The basket has 11 rows of design, aside from the center area, and is comprised of colors of beige, tan, and dark brown...
