Well fired Shigaraki chawan by Furutani Michio (1940-2000). Fine ash and bidoro glass cover this Hikidashi style (pulled out) Shigaraki chawan with a vivid pool of bidoro also covering the interior floor and walls of this teabowl. Shades of red-violet, dark iron clouds and white across the surface on this wonderful sake set by rising star Suzuki Shu enclosed in the original signed wooden boxes titled Murasaki Katakuchi and Guinomi respectively. They are beautifully uniform in a misshapen way, allowing no favoritism to the drinkers.

Wonderful Kutani Guinomi (Sake cup) with typical wan shape, produced by one of the most famous contemporary artists of Kutani, Tokuda Yasokichi III (1933-2009).

The stone ware clay was covered with dark purple glaze, which turns to light blue towards the brim. His stamp (Masahiko) is inside the unglazed foot ring...

This elegant work of Karatsu pottery has an unglazed foot, showing the rich ferrous clay from which it is constructed, and displays splashes of ferrous pigment on a backdrop of ashen glaze with a milky white overglaze. The triangular shape and large proportions make for a very distinctive work of e-Karatsu or “painted” Karatsu.

Mint Oni-Hagi masterpiece chawan with notched foot by star potter Seigan Yamane. This extraordinary tea bowl is covered by wonderful different shades of green and purple glaze on brown pottery. In my opinion it is the one of the most aesthetic chawans that he made. The seal of the artist is stamped on the bottom. We have a similar chawan with orange-red glaze - same price.
