A fantastic Mimitsuki fresh water container with rolling, sculptural corners very much in the style of the highly sought Bizen master Kakurezaki Ruichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 7-1/2 inches (18.5 cm) tall, 9 inches (23 cm) wide and in excellent condition, dating circa 1998...

Curvelicious; I am not certain that is a real word but aptly defines this evasive form of this Koro incense burner by Tamba superstar Ichino Masahiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Senmon Koro. Refined elegance in coloration and line, a removable lid allows access to the ash-chamber where incense cones could be burned.
Size, W 17.4 cm (7 inches) H 8.6 cm (3-1/2 inches)...

Another excellent example of one of my favorite artists Izumita Yukiya, comes enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Futamono Juji Henko (Cross-shaped lidded jar).
The shape has a charm reminiscent of Hans Coper and ancient vessels. It will looks beautiful with a few flowers, and of course even as an object.

Moltenb ash tumbles over the sides of this lidded coffer by Fujioka Shuhei enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Toko (Ceramic Box).   The shape is organic with a clefted-mesa likening to a Japanese garden stone.  Rather than a simple round separation, the artist has chosen a key shaped cut which adds a sense of the natural world, God does not work in straight lines so they say, and neither does Fujioka Sensei!

Each uniquely carved row of frets on this large textured koro is a variegated shade of raw clay by Matsuzaki Ken enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The piece measures7 inches (17 cm) square, 9 inches (22 cm) tall and is in fine condition.
Matsuzaki Ken was born in Tokyo in 1950, and grew up in that dynamic post war era where tradition and modernity were at constant loggerheads...

An exquisite work by challenging artist Tanba Shigeyuki enclosed in the original signed wooden box The clear white glaze certainly is like moonlight, and something about the impact of the form into multiple forms calls to mind an asteroid strikeing ground. It is both calm and alive with movement at the same time.

Dawn breaks over snow laden boulders, the shadows waxing lavender on this spectacular incense burner by Kaneta Masanao enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hagi Kurinuki Koro. This style of digging the work out of the clay rather than forming the clay on a wheel has been a signature of this artists work for more than two decades. The white glazing has altered to soft lavender in the firing process, creating a feeling of opulence over the organic vessel...

A sculpture in black glaze by Yoshitake Hiroshi enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Sakuhin B and dating circa 1980. Very much in the vein of this important avant-garde organization, it has a great deal of presence compacted into a small space. A nearly identical work is published in the book: Sodeisha, 35th Anniversary (Sodeisha, Sanjugoshunen Kinenhan, 1983) which is titled Suikan (Inebriated). Interestingly, Suikan is also a homonym for water pipes...

The pierced sides are reminiscent of an oki-goro (an incense burner placed over a dish in which incense burns).
