The smoothly undulating rim floats above the faceted sides, like acloud over the precipitous crags of Gifu prefecture, home of Oribe-ware. A beautiful example of Shigaraki pottery—the result of techniques perfected over centuries by dedicated artisans residing in the provinces east of Kyoto.
