A very large notched foot chawan by Hagi master; Yamane Seigan. This Hagi glazed boxed chawan measures 5.5” X 3.6” and is in excellent condition. This chawan is has heavily animated keshiki landscape and feels wonderful in the hands. The glaze of this chawan wonderfully accentuates the form and foot of the iron rich clay body and powerful form. This is Seigan at his best!

This chawan is in excellent, unused condition and comes complete with the original signed box.

Wonderfully color illustrated catalogue on the works of Ningen Kokuho, Living National Treasure; Arakawa Toyozo. The catalogue measures 10" X 10" and has 187 pages and covers chawan, mizusashi, chaire, tsubo, hachi and numerous other pieces. I have long wanted to offer a significant piece by this artist, and here is a spectacular Nezumi Shino pair of vases by Wakao Toshisada enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Red tinged white waves boil over the Nezumi-gray arc of the base, a white waxing moon floating above. A massive Bizen Charger with a large central spot like a sunflare by Kengo Masamune (b. 1954) enclosed in the original wooden box displayed at the 1987 Nihon Togei Ten IX (The Ninth Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition) and can be viewed as item number 169 in the catalog.
