This is a collection of paper doll dresses from the 1840-50's. They are all cut from tissue paper and glued to blue lined school book paper of that era. The lace looks and feels like Dresden pressed paper. Some of the dresses have backs, fronts and then open to allow to drop over the paper doll's head, like a billboard A frame. This small pencil drawn face doll is all cotton stuffed, hand sewn, wonderful clothes, little pigeon toed feet with worn black socks. Her dress is lined with lace trim, under that she has a blouse and petticoat. The close-up camera shot sees her face as lighter and the pencil drawing darker than it really is. This dynamic painted face black stockinette doll is a sturdy as you get. She has a solidly packed rag body and head that is really heavy. Under the black stockinette body, her body is covered old blue and white ticking as well as her attached arms and legs. Her hair is two tone crocheted string and yarn. I have never seen this technique before but it is very effective. Her dress fits the top of her so tightly I don't think I can get it off without tearing it...
This fine antique cloth doll all hand-sewn with a delicately embroidered face, pinched nose, and rosy cheeks have an air of sophistication. She has on a two-piece soft blue-green wool dress, faded some in the front, with antique petticoat and pantaloons, sock, and leather shoes.
Her hair is a black silk fabric with some shredding and a bun at the back of her neck. She is constructed with very fine linen and is stuffed quite firmly with raw wool. This is a very special doll. 21" and C. 1880

This is a wonderful wooden Native American doll with original clothing. He is pretty much untouched. He may have had a jacket or vest but I don't see any signs of that. His head is removeable but looks completely original. He is hand sewn clothes, has bead work around his sleeves but nowhere else.
