The art of "metales casados" (mixed or married metals) was practiced by several Taxco workshops yet I think Victoria was its queen. Ana Maria Nunez de Brilanti combined copper, silver and brass not only to design exquisite jewelry but also hollowware of various kinds and decorative objects. In the necklace presented here she seems to be inspired by Egyptian Revival motifs which is not unusual for her - there are at least a couple of other parures she created that tread that same path...
We have to offer a design 252 Old Los Castillo with the linear hallmarks. You can see the hand hammering on the back and the top is deeply hand chased. There is no damage or repairs to this cared for treasure. This jewel displays a pectoral which is 4in. across and 2in. at highest point tall. A modernist large brooch by the noted NYC jeweler, Paul Lobel. Made of sterling silver with a wire overlay. Signed on the back, LOBEL, Sterling.
Measures 1 3/4" across and 3 3/4" high. Has a rollover closure that holds securely. Has some tarnish, minor surface scratches and a little extra solder where the wire is attached which is original. Could also be worn as a pendant with a chain through the large loop.

An Arts & Crafts style shield brooch by Jensen designer, Laurence Foss. The pin stem needs to be straightened but works and the piece is unpolished. It measures 1-1/2" x 1/2" and weighs 9.8 grams.Marked 629A Sterling L/F. There are no dents, just light wear.
We have a unique design of heavy repousse touched off with amethyst. No dents or damage and fits most with a 2.5in. diameter. The height is 1.75 making this a noticeable piece on the wrist. Marked Mexico Silver and weighs 64 grams.

Hand-wrought in its entirety and a design that I have never encountered before, this early Mexican silver repousse necklace is an anonymous beauty. Its early date is attested to by the fact that it's strung on cotton thread (one of the earliest Aguilar "lyre" necklaces I sold was strung on cotton as well) and has a spring ring clasp.
